Application Deadlines
Deadlines for submitting complete applications for review by the Licensed Officials Committee:
- January 2021 meeting deadline: November 9, 2020
- April 2021 meeting deadline: March 3, 2021
Would you like to become a USEF licensed official?
Please review the US Equestrian Licensed Officials Policies and Procedures document for detailed licensing requirements before starting any application requirements.
All applicants must start an online licensed official application before starting the licensing process. If you complete any requirements prior to starting an online application those requirements will not count.
Please see below for instructions on how to start an application. In addition, all applicants must be compliant with the Federation's Safe Sport Policy (complete Safe Sport Training and a background check). You can read more about the policy here.
Apprentice evaluation forms, exam rubrics, and other licensing forms are located below under the "Forms and Publications" section below. You can filter the relevant documents by selecting the Category drop down and selecting the type of license you are interested in.

National License Applications
If you are ready to start the application process:
- Login to your My USEF account
- Select the Licensed Officials Dashboard tile
- Select the Licensed Officials Application tile
- Click the “Start New Checklist” button
- Your eligibility requirements will be confirmed by USEF and/or the respective Affiliate
- Once your eligibility requirements are confirmed, check back on the status of your application by following steps 1-3
Exception: If you plan to pursue a Hunter, Hunter/Jumping Seat Equitation, Hunter Course Designer, or Jumper Course Designer license through the Mentor Program you do not need to submit a new Checklist. The Mentor Program requirements have not been integrated into the Checklist system at this time.
If you started the application process before February 1, 2019, and are now ready to submit an application for licensure, do not follow the steps above and please contact the Licensed Officials Department at [email protected].
Would you like to become an FEI Licensed Official?
Please review the FEI Licensing Information document for detailed licensing requirements before starting any application requirements.

FEI License Applications
Please note that for FEI licensing:
- Effective June 1, 2019, applicants for FEI Driving, Endurance, Eventing, Reining, or Veterinarian licenses may attend an FEI course at any time throughout the application process. Applicants for FEI Dressage, Jumping, and Vaulting licenses must attend the FEI course as the last step. Please contact the Licensed Officials Department at [email protected] if you are interested in attending a course.
Once you have completed all of the FEI application requirements:
- Login to your My USEF account
- Select the Licensed Officials Dashboard tile
- Select the FEI License Application tile
- Follow the steps on the subsequent pages accordingly
- Pay the required fee and submit your application
Hunter/Jumper Permit Applications
If you are a hunter/jumper applicant that is required to submit a permit application, please utilize the following steps to submit your permit application. Please do not submit a permit application until you are eligible.
- Login to your My USEF account
- Select the Licensed Officials Dashboard tile
- Select the LO Permit Application tile
- Follow the steps on the subsequent pages accordingly
- Pay the required fee and submit your application
