Matt Flynn made his FEI Eventing debut in 2005, and has steadily progressed through the ranks, establishing himself at the CCI4* and CCI5* levels. With a consistent track record and a strong partnership with his longtime mount, Wizzerd, owned by A. Patrick Flynn, Kathleen Flynn and Merry Go Round Farm, Flynn has become a familiar name on the international eventing scene.  

In 2019, Flynn and mount Wizzerd were named as alternates for both the USEF/USET Foundation North American Futures Team Challenge at the Carolina International CCI and the FEI Eventing Nations Cup Netherlands CCIO4*-L. However, following a team update, the duo was called up to compete in the Nations Cup, marking their U.S. Eventing Team debut. 

Flynn and Wizzerd returned to international competition in 2021, once again selected for the FEI Eventing Nations Cup Netherlands CCIO4*-L and helped the team secure a silver medal finish. They capped off their 2021 season with a top five placing at the Strzegom Horse Trials CCI4*-L.
