Lexington, Ky. – The Welsh Pony and Cob Society of America (WPCSA) is prepared to host the country’s top Welsh Ponies and Cobs in the highly anticipated WPCSA American National Show. This annual competition is the premier Welsh breed show in the United States. It is held in conjunction with the Tulsa State Fair, which garners nearly one million visitors to Expo Square during the week.

With over 400 classes, the American National offers a diverse and expansive program showcasing the breed’s characteristic versatility and athleticism. Divisions include halter, driving, hunter, English and Western pleasure, children’s, and more. These elite equine athletes aim to impress judges Clare Willis-Burton (Masham, United Kingdom), Cecile K. Hetzel Dunn (Weirsdale, Fla.), and George M. Maxwell (Colts Neck, N.J.) for a chance at the prestigious title of champion.

Additionally, select performance divisions at the American National are rated as USEF Competition Lite. Points earned in Competition Lite classes count towards the USEF Horse of the Year (HOTY) awards for the 2018 competition year.

The American National is always a fun show, but WPCSA is going the extra mile and scheduled in even more fun, including an ice cream social, exhibitor’s party, and pizza party and games for youth exhibitors. Find the full schedule of special activities here. If you have never attended a Welsh show, the American National is your chance to come and see the best of this dynamic and versatile breed!
