The US Equestrian Open of Eventing has united top riders from 20 qualifying competitions across the country, culminating in this weekend’s final at Morven Park. Following the first horse inspection on Wednesday, October 8 - where 30 horse-and-athlete combinations jogged before officials and received approval to move forward - the inaugural US Equestrian Open Eventing Series champion, Boyd Martin (Cochranville, Penn.), was awarded $25,000 in prize money.

Throughout the Series, which began at the 2024 Morven Park International Horse Trials CCI4-S*, Martin competed with his talented top string of horses including Commando 3, Fedarman B, Luke 140, Shanroe Colley, and Miks Master C. His 2025 season highlights include first, second, and fourth at the Stable View Spring CCI4*-S International, second, third, and fourth at The Fork at Tryon CCI4*-S, and second at the Plantation Field International CCI4*-S. These strong finishes placed Martin at the top of the Series leaderboard with 260 points heading into the Final.

“The US Equestrian Open has really elevated our sport and given us a series of world-class events,” said Martin. “The U.S. deserves the best competitions; we have incredible athletes, horses, and venues. I think this Series and Final will only get harder to win with the great prize money and the grand finale here at Morven Park. I’m truly proud to be an American and very thankful to the sponsors for supporting this Series.”

The US Equestrian Open Eventing Final CCI4*-L concludes on Sunday, October 12.

The USEF Eventing National Championships League will debut as a new format for national championship recognition in the USEF CCI1*, the YETI/USEF CCI2*, The Dutta Corp./USEF CCI3*, and the USEF CCI4* levels. Designed to increase accessibility and opportunity for riders nationwide, the League combines an athlete’s three lowest cumulative scores during the participation period, with one long-format competition required for CCI2* levels and above. The 2025 Morven Park International & Fall Horse Trials serves as the concluding event of the participation period, where all National Champion honorees will be officially recognized. Each level will crown Champions and Reserve Champions for Professional, Amateur, Under 25, and Overall divisions.

Rounding out the weekend’s action, the USEF/USEA Developing Horse National Championships will spotlight the next generation of upper-level eventing horses, with six-year-olds taking center stage in the CCIYH2*-S and seven-year-olds in the CCIYH3*-S.
