For Clayton Farrell (Venice, Fla.), the 2025 Platinum Performance/USEF Show Jumping Talent Search Finals –East was about more than just results in the ring. His dedication, kindness, and respect for others earned him the Hollow Brook Wealth Management Sportsmanship Award, a recognition given to the athlete who best exemplifies integrity, generosity, and sportsmanship during the finals. Farrell intends to carry this momentum as he competes in the 2025 Dover Saddlery/USEF Hunter Seat Medal Final with Pepsi Van T’Hoogstehof.

Farrell’s presence at the ring at Talent Search – East did not go unnoticed. When he wasn’t competing, he was often seen watching from the sidelines, cheering and offering encouragement to his peers. His humility and genuine support for others made a lasting impression on spectators, other athletes, and officials alike, leading to multiple nominations for the award.

“This award means a lot to me,” Farrell said. “I’d like to be a professional in this sport one day and I think it’s important to be known as a good sportsman before a good salesperson.”

For Farell, good sportsmanship begins with respect for people and horses. “Sportsmanship goes hand in hand with horsemanship,” he explained. “I try to have a trusting relationship with my horses. You have to have a great respect for the horse because without them the sport doesn’t exist.”

Heading into Medal Finals, Farrell is prepared to bring the same level of sportsmanship. Aboard Pepsi Van T’Hoogstehof, his own 2015 Belgian Warmblood gelding (Nabab de Reve x Darly Van ‘T Hoogstehof), the duo will be one of over 150 combinations that will enter the Harrisburg Coliseum. He hopes to have a successful first round and return as part of the top 25 for the second round of competition. Farrell plans to continue to demonstrate excellent sportsmanship regardless of his results and hopes to continue to positively impact his peers in the future and throughout his career.
