Vianne is an American-bred Hanoverian mare owned by Kate Shoemaker. The mare was started in the U.S. by Hope Beerling and the pair contested several international young horse championships together before Shoemaker took over the ride as a potential Paralympic candidate in Grade IV.
The pair debuted in their first CPEDI together in Doha in February 2024, earning victories with tremendous scores around the 70% mark. The pair have continued their dominance in Grade IV competition in Europe throughout 2024.
In the lead-up to the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games, the pair never placed outside of the top three internationally in Grade IV competition. Shoemaker and Vianne were selected as part of the U.S. Para Dressage Team for Paris, where they finished fifth individually after the FEI Para Grand Prix Test A, then rebounded to take home an individual bronze medal in the FEI Para Grand Prix Freestyle for Grade IV. The Paris Paralympic Games marked Shoemaker’s second Paralympic appearance and first Paralympic individual medal.
Vianne and Shoemaker continued to anchor the U.S. Para Dressage Team throughout the 2025 season, helping secure wins at the AGDF 3, TerraNova, and Hagen CPEDI3* events, including a personal best score at Hagen of 81.725%.
In 2026, Vianne and Shoemaker went on a winning streak at AGDF, winning six CPEDI3* together. With Fiona Howard in the irons at AGDF 9 CPEDI3*, Vianne produced three Grade II world records in three starts – 78.85% in the Grand Prix A Test, 80.444% in the Grand Prix B Test (with all three judges awarding 80% or higher), and 84.934% in the Freestyle, a winning margin of more than 18 percentage points – anchoring the U.S. team to a gold-medal finish over Canada.
Ahead of the FEI Para Dressage World Championships in Aachen, Shoemaker and Vianne competed in the Hagen CPEDI3* where they earned a team gold medal as part of the U.S. Para Dressage Team. The weekend was capped off with a new personal best score together in the FEI Para Grand Prix Freestyle IV where the judges awarded them a total of 83.400%.
