The jumping community always knew Robert Ridland as a great rider, but now they also see him as the brilliant, strategic mind guiding the U.S. Jumping Team to unprecedented success. Ridland brings several decades of international experience, both as a rider and coach, to the Chef d'Equipe position.

As an athlete, Ridland competed in the Montreal 1976 Olympic Games and won several grand prix competitions throughout his riding career. Ridland has been extensively involved in the governance of the sport, including several terms as a board member of US Equestrian and the United States Equestrian Team Foundation.

Ridland's vast experience as an international course designer helped shaped his analytical approach to the sport. He won the Course Designer of the Year Award twice while building the courses for the U.S. Olympic Trials and numerous international competitions. As an international official, he was the only American to have served as the FEI Technical Delegate for four FEI World Cup Finals. As a television commentator, he worked for many years as the color analyst for ESPN and CBS, as well as two stints for NBC at the Barcelona and Athens Olympic Games.

Since being named the U.S. Jumping Chef d’Equipe/Technical Advisor in 2013, Ridland has led the U.S. team to team bronze medals at the 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, and team gold at the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon, N.C. Under his guidance the team has medaled at the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games, 2019 Lima Pan American Games, and most recently secured team gold at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games. The U.S. Jumping Team has earned three consecutive team silver medals in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, and 2024 Paris Olympic Games. 

Karl Cook began riding at eight alongside his mother, Signe, and sister, Annie Laurie. What soon followed was a lifelong passion for horses. Between 2007 and 2009, Cook’s trajectory was that of a successful Junior/Young Rider competing in the FEI North American Youth Championships (NAYC) for three consecutive years, winning team and individual gold in 2007 and team and individual silver in 2008.

Based out of Pomponio Ranch South in Rancho Santa Fe, California, Cook has continued to produce top results throughout his professional career with the help of coach and mentor Eric Navet (France), competing in three FEI World Cup® Finals and multiple NetJets® U.S. Jumping Teams including at the 2023 FEI Nations Cup® Final in Barcelona. Ranking among Cook’s most notable Grand Prix wins are Hampton Classic 2022, American Gold Cup, $1 Million Coachella Cup, Major League Show Jumping Top Individual Rider in 2023, CSI5* Rolex Grand Prix of Rome in 2024, and winning Silver for Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The 2024 season has been a strong showing for Cook and his string. With Caracole de la Roque, Cook took second in the prestigious Rolex Grand Prix in Wellington, Fla., before being named to the U.S. Jumping Team Short List for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. The duo were strong in their Nations Cup competitions, and exceled in each of their Grand Prix classes, securing top honors in the Rolex Grand Prix of Rome CSIO5* in May and earning a second-place finish at the Rolex Grand Prix of La Baule CSIO5* in June. 

Cook and Caracole de la Roque were selected as the alternate athlete combination for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. The pair ultimately competed on the team and helped secure the Team Silver Medal alongside teammates Laura Kraut and Mclain Ward.

Laura Kraut’s illustrious career began when she received her first riding lesson at the age of three. Encouraged by their mother, Carol, Kraut and sister Mary Elizabeth took riding lessons together throughout their childhood and still work together today. 

Kraut earned her first major breakthrough in 1992 as an alternate for the Barcelona Olympic Games, later making her Olympic debut in Sydney in 2000 with Liberty. She helped the U.S. win team gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics aboard Cedric, and team silver at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics with Baloutinue. She also represented the U.S. at three FEI World Equestrian Games: Aachen in 2006 with Miss Independent (team silver), Lexington in 2010 with Cedric, and Tryon 2018 with Zeremonie, as part of the gold-medal NetJets® U.S. Jumping Team. 

Kraut is the most decorated team athlete in U.S. history, having competed in more than 90 Nations Cup competitions for the U.S. throughout her career. With Dorado 212, the pair played a pivotal role in helping the team secure their qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile. 
 
In 2024, Laura rode to another strong season with Baloutinue, jumping a double clear for the team at the LLN Ocala CSIO5*, where they finished with just a single time-fault in the Grand Prix. The duo produced excellent rounds in LLN Rotterdam CSIO5*, earning fourth overall in the Grand Prix. The duo secured their second consecutive selection to represent the U.S. Jumping Team at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. 
 
Kraut competed at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, marking her fifth Olympic Games and her second with Baloutinue. Alongside teammates McLain Ward (Ilex) and Karl Cook (Caracole de la Roque), Kraut and Baloutinue helped the team secure their third consecutive team silver medal. The pair finished eighth individually.  
 
In 2025, Kraut was part of yet another team win at the LLN Ocala CSIO5* aboard Dorado 212 and finished second in the Rolex US Equestrian Open Grand Prix CSI5* with Bisquetta to close out their winter circuit.  Throughout the year, she delivered consistent results for the U.S. Jumping Team, helping the team earn victories in the Rome Nations Cup CSIO5* and CHIO Aachen Nations Cup CSIO5*, to mark one of the team’s most successful seasons in history. At CHIO Aachen and achieved a standout individual win with Baloutinue in the Rolex Grand Prix of Aachen, finishing second. She rode Bisquetta to the lone clear round to win the Rolex Grand Prix of Dublin CSIO5*, which was followed by appearances for the team at Spruce Meadows CSIO5* and LLN Final in Barcelona, Spain. To conclude her 2025 season, Kraut topped the $750,000 Coachella Cup Grand Prix CSI5* in Thermal, Calif., with Bisquetta.  
 
Based in both Florida and the Netherlands, Kraut and her longtime partner, legendary British jumper, Nick Skelton, run a successful training and sales business. 

Devin Ryan was born in New Jersey and discovered his love of horses as a child while riding at his grandfather's farm in Sussex County. He began his riding career at the age of 13 under the supervision of Delores Hunt. When Ryan was 14 years old, he competed in the United States Pony Club (USPC) Junior Tetrathlon (ride, run, shoot, and swim) and won the USPC national championship. While training in eventing, he caught the show jumping bug and has been on the rise ever since.

From 2002 to 2003, Ryan trained and rode for Alan Waldman in Holland at one of the top sport horse barns in the Netherlands. Upon returning to the United States, he took on the task of owning and managing his current facility at River Run Stables. Ryan has a knack for assessing young horses and identifying their potential, and it shows in how he has brought along Eddie Blue. Ryan acquired the Netherlands-born gelding when he was four years old, and it did not take long for Eddie Blue and Ryan to collect top placings on the grand prix circuit. As the runner-up at the 2018 FEI Jumping World Cup™ Final, Ryan automatically landed a spot on the short list for the WEG Tryon 2018. During the WEG team observation period, Ryan and Eddie Blue were members of the bronze medal-winning team in the FEI Jumping Nations Cup CSIO5* at CSIO Sopot in June. As part of the U.S. team at CHIO Aachen, they jumped double-clear in the Mercedes-Benz Nations Cup. Ryan and Eddie Blue helped the NetJets^® U.S. Jumping Team clinch team gold at the FEI World Equestrian Games™ Tryon 2018. They closed out 2018 by placing second in the $205,000 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Toronto.

In 2019, Ryan collected top placings, earning second with Cooper in the $35,700 Upperville Speed Stakes CSI4* and third with Eddie Blue in the $300,000 DOHA.INC Grand Prix at the Hampton Classic. He and Cooper competed in the FEI Jumping World Cup Final in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The following year, he found success at the Palm Beach Masters, winning the $10,000 CP Welcome Stake CSIO5* with Caspar’s Lasino. Ryan and Eddie Blue finished third in the $213,300 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Wellington CSI4*-W and rounded out the 2020 season by winning the $213,300 National Horse Show Grand Prix CSI4*.

In 2021, Ryan had a third-place finish in the $401,000 Douglas Elliman Real Estate Grand Prix CSI5* with Eddie Blue.

In 2022, Ryan and Eddie Blue were third in the $200,000 Empire State Grand Prix CSI4* at the Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Show. The pair was third again in the $216,000 Upperville Jumper Classic CSI4* at the Upperville Colt & Horse Show. Ryan and Eddie Blue improved to second place in the CSI3* Grand Prix of Greenwich at the Greenwich 2022. They closed out the year with a win in the $73,800 International Welcome Stake CSI4* at the National Horse Show.

This year, Ryan and Eddie Blue returned to the FEI Jumping World Cup Final, finishing 13th in Omaha, Neb. The pair then earned two second-place finishes in the Devon Horse Show & Country Fair CSI4*.

Jessica Springsteen is a lifelong equestrian who started taking riding lessons at age five and has risen through the competitive international ranks to become an Olympian and one of the top jumping athletes for the U.S. She was a dominant force in the equitation ring in her junior years, winning the 2008 ASPCA Maclay Finals and the 2009 WEF Excellence in Equitation Championship.

As a jumper, Springsteen had early success as a member of the Zone 2 Young Riders team that won the silver medal at the 2010 FEI North American Youth Championships and as the individual bronze medalist at the same event. She represented the U.S. as part of FEI Nations Cup teams, including the winning teams in Dublin, Ireland in 2014, Palm Beach, Fla., and Wellington, Fla., in 2020, and Aachen, Germany in 2021.

In March of 2021, Springsteen was named to the NetJets® U.S. Jumping Team that won the FEI Jumping Nations Cup Wellington CSIO4* with Don Juan van de Donkhoeve. In June, she rode RMF Tinkerbell to victory in the Hubside Jumping Grimaud-Gulf of Saint-Tropez’s CSI4* Grand Prix.

Later in 2021, Springsteen was named to the team for the Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, with Don Juan van de Donkhoeve, and helped bring home the team silver medal. She continued her banner year with wins at the €500,000 Rolex Grand Prix CSI 5* at the Brussels Stephex Masters riding RMF Zecilie in August and the CSI2* Grand Prix at Saint-Tropez in September riding Tiger Lily. Jessica Springsteen and Don Juan van de Donkhoeve helped the NetJets U.S. Jumping Team win gold in the the Mercedes-Benz Nations Cup at CHIO Aachen.

In 2022, Springsteen competed as part of Nations Cup team at the FEI Jumping Nations Cup of Knokke Hippique CSIO5* with RMF Zecilie. In the fall, Springsteen and Naomi Van Het Keizershof won the Elite Horse Transport 1.45m CSI3* at ESP Pre-Charity Horse Show.

In 2023, Springsteen and Naomi Van Het Keizershof were second in the CHF37,000 Wellington Equestrian Realty CSI4* during week three of the Winter Equestrian Festival. She was part of the winning team at the FEI Jumping Nations Cup of USA at San Juan Capistrano CSIO5* in with Don Juan van de Donkhoeve. The pair then won the Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of London CSI5*.

McLain Ward was introduced to riding before he could walk and has a competitive prowess which only continues to increase with age. In 1990, Ward became the youngest rider ever to win both the United States Equestrian Team (USET) Medal Finals and the USET Talent Derby at age 14. After turning pro, he quickly became the youngest rider to reach the $1 million mark in earnings in 1999, at the age of 24. 

Ward is a six-time Olympian, including as a member of the gold-medal-winning U.S. teams in Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008 with his longtime mount, Sapphire. With HH Azur, he was part of the U.S. team that took silver at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Ward was also a team silver medalist at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games riding Contagious and most recently earned team silver once again, this time aboard Ilex at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.  

He was a member of the gold-medal winning NetJets® U.S. Jumping Team for the FEI World Equestrian Games Tryon 2018 riding Clinta, WEG Normandy 2014 team bronze medalist with Rothchild, and a WEG Aachen 2006 team silver medalist with Sapphire, and represented the U.S. in 2022 in Herning with Contagious. As a Pan American Games athlete, Ward was a part of the gold-medal team in Guadalajara 2011 riding Antares F, as well as aboard Contagious at Santiago 2023, where the pair helped the team secure their Paris 2024 qualification. 

In 2025, Ward was selected to the U.S. Jumping Team for the LLN Ocala CSIO5*, where he and Ilex contributed to the team’s top podium finish. He went on the compete for the U.S. in the Rome Nations Cup CSIO5* on Imperial HBF and La Baule Nations Cup CSIO5* on Ilex. He was named to the winning U.S. Jumping Team for the CHIO Aachen CSIO5* with Imperial HBF and second place finishing team at the Falsterbo Nations Cup CSIO5* with High Star Hero. A highlight of 2025 was Ward’s win aboard High Star Hero in the FEI Jumping World Cup Qualifier CSI5* at Santa Anita.  

Ward began 2026 as a selected member of the U.S. Jumping Team for the Wellington Nations Cup CSIO4*, where he and Jordan Molga M contributed to the team's victory.  

Ward resides in Brewster, New York, with his wife, Lauren, and their two young daughters, Lilly and Madison.
