Michael Hughes has been a talented and committed young talent for the U.S. Jumping Team for the last several years, basing full time out of Europe and competing most recently for Stephex Stables. Hughes got his start in the U.S. under his father Eamon Hughes before training with Missy Clark and John Brennan at North Run. He was the indiviudal silver medalist in the Young Rider category at the North American Youth Championships in 2014 representing Zone 2, and also helped the team capture team bronze. Hughes also competed on the U.S. Jumping Young Rider team as part of the CSIOY in Wellington, Fla. in 2014, where the team won gold. 

Making the move to Europe in 2015, Hughes as continued to make a name for himself on the European circuit, capitalizing on competition opportunities from the CSI 1* level all the way up through the CSI 5* level. Hughes last represented the NetJets U.S. Jumping Team at Rotterdam in 2018, and competed on two developing rider tour teams in 2017 in Slovakia. Currently, Hughes as several international mounts, including his top 5* horse, Kashmir Van D'oude Pastory.
