Daniel Janes is a longtime vaulting athlete and coach. He was a versatile member of the U.S. Vaulting Team for the FEI World Equestrian Games Tryon 2018, where he competed as an individual, in a pas de deux with Haley Smith, and as part of the squad, after having done the same feat at the FEI Vaulting Nations Cup™ CVIO4* at CHIO Aachen in Germany earlier that year.

In 2019, Janes and Smith won the silver medal in the pas de deux at the FEI Vaulting World Cup™ Final in Saumur, France. In 2021, they won the bronze medal in the pas de deux at the FEI Vaulting World Championship in Budapest, Hungary. Janes was also part of the bronze medal-winning squad at that World Championship.

Janes kicked off 2022 with an individual win at the Pacific Cup CVI3*-W before heading overseas for the summer, where he won the Individual Male CVI3*-W at Flyinge, Sweden. He competed in the ECCO FEI World Championships in the Individual Male division, finishing 14th.
