Road to NAJYRC - Endurance - Final Post

by Devan Horn | 8/10/2011 5:25:14 PM

The North American Young Rider’s Championship was a great success! Everyone (myself included) seemed to have a great time, and the endurance Basecamp was full of positive things to say about the Horse Park and staff. Though it was hot, everyone was in great spirits, and the 75 mile race went as well as anyone could have hoped. I only got to see 55 miles of the trail, but what I saw of it, I loved. It was an amazing experience to ride parts of the WEG course, and see some of the beautiful...

Road to NAJYRC - Reining - Final Post

by Laura Sumrall | 8/3/2011 8:41:43 AM

I have finally made it home from Lexington, and I am surely glad to be in my own bed! My last few days at the NAJYRC were definitely better than the first few. Things started happening like we had hoped for me and Smartie. We started off Saturday with our schooling session at 6 A.M. She and I practically camped out by the big , black, reflective sign. She never once shied away from it, so I had a bit of confidence for my ride. My trainer said he felt good about the way she was acting for me,...

Road to NAJYRC - Endurance - Post 2

by Devan Horn | 7/27/2011 9:52:00 PM

We arrived at the venue today! Our horses had already arrived, so we dove into our first day at the Kentucky Horse Park! We arranged team shirts, walked out our horses, and began organizing for the race this Friday. It was hard work, since we had just come back into the humidity, and I’d done a 120 kilometer race two days before, not to mention the jet lag! But the trip with the United States Endurance Team for the Trial Run of the Endurance World Championship was worth it! I ended up in...

by From the USEA | 7/23/2011 8:48:00 AM

After a brief bone-chilling downpour early this morning at the Event at Rebecca Farm in Kalispell, Montana, the competition heated up on the first day of competition for the CIC3*, CCI2*, CIC2*, Advanced, Intermediate, a few Preliminary divisions, and the Training Three-Day. The chilly temperatures today made for some fresh horses, many of whom have been training in sweltering temperatures at their homes during the weeks prior to the competition. Many of the horses were a bit exuberant with the...
