WDAA World Championship Show Rocks Lazy E Arena

by Western Dressage Association of America/US Equestrian Communications Department | Oct 4, 2018, 10:57 AM

Guthrie, Okla. – Last weekend, the sixth annual Western Dressage Association of America (WDAA) World Championship Show rocked the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Okla. From September 27-30, the World Show brought together the top combinations in Western dressage from 24 states and several Canadian provinces. With 77 world championship titles on the line, judges Ronald Bartholomew (Martville, N.Y.), Donna Longacre (Longview, Wash.), Fatina Pawlenko Kranz (Algonquin, Ill.), and Charlotte Trentelman (Anthony, Fla.) saw strong tests throughout the competition.

The World Show drew 200 riders and 181 horses of nearly 40 different breeds to compete in six divisions. Nearly 900 rides made winning the prestigious championship titles, breed high-score awards, and divisional championship belt buckles highly competitive. The inaugural therapeutic riding exhibition classes, where the benefits of Western dressage and the partnership it creates with the horse are brought to life, were inspiring to see.
