Takacs and Brighton Lead Large Regular Hunter Pony National Championship Presented by Charles Ancona; Brown and Sunshine Kid Sitting First in Small Green Hunter Pony National Championship on Day One of USEF Pony Finals Presented by Collecting Gaits Farm

Lexington, Ky. – The 2019 USEF Pony Finals presented by Collecting Gaits Farm (Pony Finals) is officially underway as competitors for the Large Regular Hunter Pony National Championship presented by Charles Anconaand the Small Green Hunter Pony National Championship completed the Model and Under Saddle phases at the Kentucky Horse Park today.

In a field of 149 large hunter ponies, Samantha Takacs (Oldwick, N.J.) and Brighton, Ellie Sadrian’s 10-year-old Deutsches Reitpony gelding, sit in the top position after the Model and Under Saddle phases of the Large Regular Hunter Pony National Championship presented by Charles Ancona on a composite score of 544.27. Takacs and Brighton stood out throughout the day, winning both the Model and Under Saddle portions of the competition on a score of 266.00 in the Model and a 278.27 in the Under Saddle.

The large regular hunter ponies will contest the Over Fences portion of the competition on Wednesday, August 7.

Annabelle Brown and Sunshine Kid Lead Small Green Hunter Pony National Championship at 2019 Pony Finals

Annabelle Brown (Oxford, Pa.) and Sunshine Kid, Alina Glover’s nine-year-old Welsh Pony gelding, lead the way in the Small Green Hunter Pony National Championship after the first day of competition on a composite score of 506.80. Earning a 258.55 for a top-two finish in the Model and a 248.25 in the Under Saddle, the combination holds on to a narrow lead over the competitive field of 44 small green hunter ponies heading into the over fences portion of the competition.

The Small Green Hunter Pony National Championship will conclude with the Over Fences portion of the competition on Wednesday, August 7.
