Strong Start for U.S. Driver at 2021 FEI Para Driving World Championship

Schildau, Germany – The FEI Para Driving World Championship kicked off on Thursday, Aug. 5 in Schildau, Germany, with athletes representing eight nations across two grades of single horse combined driving competition.

U.S. driver Tracy Bowman (Martinez, Calif.) is the sole competitor at this year’s championship from outside of Europe. She is competing in the Grade I with her own Welsh Pony gelding, Albrecht’s Hoeve’s Lars. The pair posted a score of 49.79 penalties in their dressage test on Thursday morning, positioning them in third place and just over a point behind the leader, Jacques Poppen of the Netherlands.

The marathon phase will take place on Saturday, Aug. 7 beginning at 2:30 p.m. local time (8:30 a.m. ET), and competition will conclude with the cones phase on Sunday, Aug. 8.
