Their 11-8 decision Saturday was vengeance for an early season loss to the Cowgirls, and a confidence booster. It was an even match, but K-State Hunter and Western teams got wins, 6-4 and 3-2 respectively, and earned MOP’s in both Hunter Seat Disciplines.
“They just did a fabulous job and it was truly a team effort,” said Wildcat coach Casie Maxwell, “just like our Big 12 conference play has been all year. It came down to every single ride and they did a great job.”
Saturday was the first time all season that both Cowgirl teams lost. So, it may not have been the way Oklahoma State was hoping to head into the post season, but they performed well enough to stay confident. They’ll be contenders in both the big 12 and National Championship competitions, and could get a chance to face off against the Kansas State again in just a couple of weeks.
