"It feels good," Pape said with a smile when asked about her winning weekend. "I feel like I made a silly mistake [at the triple] but she warmed up well and jumped her tail off. I wanted to do this [the CCI1*] one more time for her to grow up."
The USEF National 19-to-21-Year-Old One-Star Championship went to Elizabeth McGinley of Taylorsville, KY. She piloted Vicki Baumgardner's eight-year-old Thoroughbred gelding Song for the Kaiser to double clear rounds in both the cross country and stadium phases to finish on their dressage score of 67.8.
Debbie Iezzi (Prospect, KY) and her nine-year-old Thoroughbred gelding Maxfli were the Reserve Champions in the USEF National One-Star Championship finishing on a score of 51.8 after knocking a single rail in stadium where rails were coming down all afternoon.
Jennifer Czubak (Louisville, KY) and King's Ransom were the Reserve Champions in the USEF National Amateur One-Star Championship. She and her 17-year-old Swedish Warmblood/Thoroughbred gelding were one of only a few pairs to finish on their dressage score with a score of 55.6.
