
2011 Egyptian Event Supreme Champion Mare Laian Al Shaqab
The overall Egyptian Event show theme in 2012 is “Born of the Desert Wind” and Friday morning’s seminar will feature that theme and popular speaker Joe Ferriss of Brownstone Farm, as he discusses the origins of Arabian type. Other seminars and clinics throughout the week will include “Amateur Showmanship: Keys to Success with Jill Girardi Thomas, The Saluqi, Coursing Hound of the Desert with Mary Beth Rogers and Horse of the Desert, a 21st Century Diet with Laurie Lawrence from the University of Kentucky. Highlights of the competition will include the two Egyptian Breeders Challenge classes for Straight Egyptian Yearling Fillies and Yearling Colts. Handled by owners and amateurs, the youthful Arabian hopefuls will compete for prize money this year of over $52,000 per class.
Saturday is an especially anticipated day annually at the Egyptian Event, as there are championship classes from dawn until well into the evening. The Saturday evening session will be simulcast this year by Arabian Horse Global and the USEF Network at www.usefnetwork.com. The overall junior, senior and grand champions will be selected and honored. Opening ceremonies will include the Cavalia star Sylvia Zerbini and her Grande Liberte performance utilizing eight to ten Arabian horses. Those who plan to attend the show on Saturday night and watch Sylvia’s performance would be well advised to look into tickets quickly.
Opening Ceremonies for the 2012 Egyptian Event begin at 2 pm EST Monday, June 4th in the Covered Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park, Lexington, Kentucky.
