One of the day's biggest results came from the Western bracket second round where #5 seed South Carolina upset reigning overall national champion Auburn, the Western bracket #4 seed. The gamecocks entered the tournament on a roll and kept it going through the first two rounds of Western competition. They started off the day with a 7-1 victory over the University of Tennessee-Martin and then defeated Auburn 5-3 yesterday afternoon. South Carolina faces #1 seed Texas A&M in the Western semi-finals this afternoon. The two teams also face off in the second round of Hunter Seat competition today. In that matchup South Carolina is the #2 seed and Texas A&M the #7.
Auburn is still in good shape in Hunter Seat competition after narrowly defeating Kansas State on a raw score tie-breaker in the second round yesterday. They will face off against home-team Baylor in the semi-finals this afternoon.
