Lexington, Ky.
- The Dutta Corp. U.S. Dressage Team has settled in at the Odense Horse Festival sponsored by Ecco taking place in Denmark, May 14-16. The team of Katherine Bateson-Chandler, Susan Dutta, Jennifer Hoffmann, and Beatrice Marienau will compete in the CDIO3* Nations Cup competition led by Chef d’Equipe Robert Dover. The U.S. will go last in the order of seven nations as they aim for a solid performance.

“We had a super training day today for the whole team, and the vet inspections went perfectly, so I’m really looking forward to the Grand Prix tomorrow,” Dover said. “Everybody looks great, and I’m very, very hopeful that they have a really great showing here.”

With her upper-level dressage career beginning just a few years ago, Marienau (Oak Creek, Colo.) will compete on her first Nations Cup team in Odense in the leadoff position. Last year, she reached a personal goal by competing at the U.S. Dressage Festival of Champions presented by The Dutta Corp. with her own Stefano 8. Marienau and the 1999 Dutch Warmblood gelding have continued to flourish this year, winning the Grand Prix Freestyle at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival V CDI-W.

Following Marienau, California native Hoffmann (Duisburg, Germany) also makes her Nations Cup debut with her own XXXL Rubinio NRW. She has spent several years training and competing in Europe, establishing herself on the international stage. Earlier this year, Hoffmann and the 2003 Westphalian stallion were sixth in the Grand Prix Special at CDI3* Nieuw en Sint Joosland in The Netherlands.

Going next for the U.S., Dutta (Wellington, Fla.) will ride seasoned competitor Tim Dutta Inc’s Currency DC. With a partnership that dates back to 2005, Dutta has developed the 2000 Oldenburg gelding into a proven performer. Recently, Dutta and Currency DC finished seventh in the Grand Prix Special at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival 10 CDI4*.

Bateson-Chandler (Wellington, Fla.) is a 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games veteran and will bring valuable experience to the team with Jane Clark’s Alcazar as the anchor combination. She and the 2005 Dutch Warmblood gelding have scored top results since their partnership began in 2013. This year on the Florida circuit, the pair won the CDI3* Grand Prix Freestyle at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival 10 and finished third in the CDI-W Grand Prix Freestyle at the Palm Beach Dressage Derby.

Competition begins Saturday with all combinations competing in the Grand Prix Test. Two combinations will compete in Sunday’s Grand Prix Special presented by Sport Event Denmark, while the other two combinations will compete in Monday’s ECCO Grand Prix Freestyle.
