The Richard E. McDevitt Award of Merit recognizes an individual posthumously who demonstrated exceptional dedication, leadership, and volunteer service to equestrian sport. Named in honor of Richard E. McDevitt’s lifelong contribution to the sport and the Federation, this award highlights the unsung heroes who work tirelessly to elevate the equestrian community.

What is the criteria?

The Richard E. McDevitt Award of Merit can only be nominated by affiliate leadership and committees. Please reach out to your affiliates or committees if you have a nomination in mind.

How do I submit a nomination?

A selection committee reviews all nominations and selects the recipient based on the impact and legacy of their contributions.

How do you select a winner?

Nominations are accepted in August through October 15 and will be forwarded to the Pegasus Awards Selection Committee for review.

Who is eligible for nomination?

Individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, dedication, and service to equestrian sport at the national level.

How do you select a winner?

This award is given posthumously for meritorious service to equestrian sport who passed away between September 1st, 2024 and October 15th, 2025. Recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award or Pegasus Medal of Honor are not eligible for the Award of Merit.

When do we present the award?

The Richard E. McDevitt Award of Merit is presented annually at the Pegasus Awards Dinner.
