The USEF Youth Advisory’s Group mission in equestrian sport is to ensure that younger members’ viewpoints are valued, and that USEF provides a platform for enhancing these future leaders’ skills in horse and human welfare, teamwork, sportsmanship, and the governance processes.
The Youth Advisory Group was established by the National Breeds and Disciplines Council in late 2023, and the group held its first meeting in December of 2023. The group has met regularly, with meetings focusing on connecting youth from across the equestrian community, discussing current topics in the horse industry, and providing insightful feeback.
The group identified the following important topics as points of interest:
- Horse Welfare
- Rider Welfare
- How do we reach the youth in our sport to ensure our voice is heard?
- Concerns with the current competition environment
- How do we get involved in growing equestrian sport?
