Michael Stone currently serves as the President of Wellington International (WI), where he works closely with the CEO Murray Kessler on the management of the organization. In addition to his executive responsibilities, he plays a key role in community outreach, marketing, and promotional campaigns for WI. Stone acts as the representative and liaison to the national governing body of equestrian sports United States Equestrian Federation (USEF), and the international governing body Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI), and other related organizations.
Wellington International hosts an extensive calendar of events, organizing 40 weeks of horse shows annually. The highlight is the Winter Equestrian Festival, which in 2025 generated over $500 million in economic impact for Palm Beach County.
Michael Stone's experience in event management is further highlighted by his role as Sports Director for the 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG) in Tryon, as well as his involvement in organizing events at various locations across the United States. Stone also rode extensively in many disciplines growing up in Ireland and competed for Ireland at international level in Show Jumping.
Prior to joining the ESP Team, Stone worked for the FEI for 11 years. During his time at the organization’s headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, he held several prominent roles, including Secretary General, Sports Director, Assistant Secretary General, and Development Officer. His diverse experience at FEI contributed significantly to his expertise in international equestrian sports management.
Michael Stone is actively engaged in the wider equestrian community. He serves as a member of several committees for the United States Equestrian Federation. In addition, he is a Board Member of the International Jumping Organizers group and a member of the FEI Jumping Committee, reflecting his ongoing commitment to the advancement of the sport.
