KERRI SOWERS

Dr. Kerri Sowers is a Professor of Health Science at Stockton University in Galloway, N.J. Dr. Sowers obtained her DPT from Stockton University in 2008 and her Ph.D. from Nova Southeastern University in 2018. She became a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Neurologic Physical Therapy in 2012 and completed the recertification process in 2020. Her primary areas of practice have been in the acute care setting, focusing on the rehabilitation of patients with acute trauma and/or neurologic events, and with adaptive sport athletes at the national and international level.

Dr. Sowers is extremely involved in para equestrian sports, as both an international classifier for the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) and a national classifier for the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF). She serves as the Deputy Head of Classification and on the Classification Sub-Committee for the FEI. For USEF, she serves on the Para Sport Committee and the Adaptive Sports Committee.

Dr. Sowers’ research focus has centered around quality of life issues that impact the Primary Immunodeficiency/Inborn Errors of Immunity patient community. Dr. Sowers has published research related to primary immunodeficiency disease and exercise, perceived cognitive impairment, experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic, and other quality of life issues. She has also contributed to book chapters on HIV, acupuncture, and alternative therapies for neurologic rehabilitation.
