EMILY SANDLER BURTNESS

Emily Sandler-Burtness, DVM, graduated from Colorado State University in 2000 and then completed an internship in equine medicine and surgery at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, Ky.

In 2003, she started Pacific Coast Equine Veterinary Services in San Diego and has a particular interest in lameness, imaging, and sport horse welfare. She has served as an FEI veterinary delegate since 2007, including being member of the veterinary commission at the World Equestrian Games in Tryon 2018, 2020/1 Tokyo Olympics, World Equestrian Championships in Pratoni 2022, and foreign veterinary delegate for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Additionally, she is a current member of the USEF Veterinary Committee, USEF Human and Equine Safety and Welfare Committee, and the United States Eventing Associations Equine Safety & Welfare Committee.

Currently, Emily lives in San Diego with her husband Jeremy, son Nathan and a variety of four-legged critters.
