RACHEL SEIFERT

Rachel Seifert is an avid Saddlebred enthusiast following a “Morgan conversion” in her late 20s.  Her 40-year love affair has included amateur competition at all levels, breeding, and at one point, farm ownership.

Following her retirement from the full-time employment as the general counsel of a hospital company headquartered in Franklin, Tenn., she moved to Kentucky to devote her complete attention to equestrian life. In addition to pursuing her goals as an exhibitor (World’s Champion: check!), she began volunteering with the ASHA (now known as the American Saddlebred Horse and Breeders Association) at the committee level in her areas of expertise: bylaws and code of conduct. She also assisted with the merger of ASHA with the American Saddlebred Registry.

In 2021, Rachel was elected to a first term to the Board of Directors and continued to work in the “rules” arena, chairing the registry rules committee, the bylaws committee, and the conduct review committee. In 2023, she was elected to the executive leadership council, serving as the treasurer. With her third and final year as treasurer coming to a close, she is excited to advance her volunteer service with USEF as a member of the National Breeds and Discipline Council, as well as continuing as a member of the American Saddlebred Committee.

When not engaged in horse activities, she enjoys travel, dining, and hanging out with her two dogs.

Seifert holds a B.S. in Animal Science from the University of Maryland College of Agriculture (College Park, Md.) and a J.D. from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law (Baltimore, Md.).
