I Am US Equestrian: Chris Powierski

by US Equestrian Communications Department | Apr 8, 2025, 3:36 PM

For this week’s I Am US Equestrian Member Spotlight, meet Chris. US Equestrian first met Chris during our visit to Prancing Horse Center for Therapeutic Horsemanship, one of the USEF Community Outreach Organizations in Southern Pines, N.C.

Chris first learned about horses through his friend, Jonathan, who has been riding with Prancing Horse for more than 30 years. Watching Jonathan compete in a horse show sparked his interest in riding, which led to him connecting with Prancing Horse. Fast forward two years, Chris has developed close bonds with the horses through grooming and trail riding. Of all the horses though, Chris has an especially close bond with his favorite horse, Secret.

Chris’ newfound interest in horses has led to new personal goals. One day, Chris would like to learn how to trot independently without a horse handler. Additionally, Chris has an interest in competition, specifically the jumping discipline. Eventually, he would love to progress in the discipline where he could be an athlete in the Special Olympics. Chris also mentioned that it would be a bonus for this competition to be close to home so he can share what he has learned and accomplished at Prancing Horse with his friends and family.
