ASHA Board Implements Internal Reorganization; Directors Elected to American Saddlebred Registry

The Board of Directors of the American Saddlebred Horse Association(ASHA), Inc., completed the internal corporate reorganization of its governance structure Tuesday, March 29.

Members, who approved the reorganization in February, will belong to ASHA, Inc., now a public charity, and the breed’s Registry will be supervised by a companion board, including nine newly-elected directors effective Friday, April 1, 2005.

Following solicitation of suggestions for Registry board service from the membership, the board elected directors to one-year terms, which will end at the next annual meeting in February 2006. All are eligible for re-election to additional annual terms.

The newly-adopted bylaws require three principal officers of the association also serve as directors of the Registry; they are David Howard, Sandra Lilly and Fred Sarver. In addition, at least two additional members of the association board must be elected members of the Registry board. The board elected Carter Cox, Mary Ann Pardieck and Dr. Alan Raun to comprise six overlapping directors of the two boards. Also elected directors of the Registry were Joan Hamilton, Dr. Rick Luft and Spencer Mains; none of whom currently serves as a director of the association.

The new Registry board will convene a meeting in the near future to elect its own officers and complete its organizational duties.~~~
