Katy, Texas – Rebecca Hart and Kate Shoemaker carried the momentum from yesterday’s Team Tests into the Individual Tests to remain on top of the standings for the 2015 USEF Para-Equestrian Dressage National Championships. Hart sits on an overall score of 58.973% for the advantage in the CPEDI3* Championship High Performance division. Shoemaker’s overall score of 56.495% leads the CPEDI1* Championship National division. Today’s scores count another 40% towards the competitors overall score to determine the champions. The remaining 20% of the overall score will come from the Freestyle test tomorrow. 

CPEDI3* Championship High Performance Division

Reminiscent of yesterday’s Team Tests, the top three finishers overall remained the same after completing the Individual Tests. Grade II athlete Hart wanted her own Schroeter’s Romani to perform with more power and spark, and the 2002 Danish Warmblood mare delivered for a fabulous score of 74.314%.

“This was one of those days where I have to pinch myself; everything went right. This was one of those special rides. Having a 74 and finding there is more to get out of her is a great feeling,” said Hart.

Grade III athlete Angela Pevy and Ozzy Cooper, Rebecca Reno’s 2006 Trakehner gelding, performed another consistent performance. They earned a 69.854% for an overall score of 56.289% to stay in second place. Although, Grade Ia athlete Roxanne Trunnell and Royal Dancer did not score as high in the Individual Test, she edged Grade Ib athlete Sydney Collier to keep her third place position. She earned a score of 67.652% with Julia Handt’s 2005 Westphalian gelding for an overall score of 55.182%.

CPEDI1* Championship National Division

Grade III athlete Shoemaker and her own Solitaer 40 continued to stand out in the division with another impressive performance. The 2007 Hanoverian gelding delivered on what was asked of him during warm ups. He improved upon his canter and walk, and the combination earned a score of 71.122%.

“What I like about him is we ask him to give a little more each time I ride him, and everyday he brings it. I think his consistency and willingness makes him a good horse, and he has a promising future,” said Shoemaker.

Grade II athlete Kelly Boccia moved into second place with an overall score of 54.486%. Boccia and her own Donauwalzer CSF, a 2002 Rheinlander stallion, earned a score of 68.743% to barely edge Grade IV athlete Mary Jordan. Jordan and Rubicon 75, Vinceremos Therapeutic Riding Center’s 2005 Oldenburg gelding, dropped to third place with an overall score of 53.372% after earning a 65.881% in the Individual Test.

Currently, the CPEDI3* Championship High Performance division team has an overall score of 424.764% and the CPEDI1* Championship National division team has a score of 402.240%
