U.S. Arabian Nationals Showcases Best of Arabian Breed
The 38th Annual U.S. National Arabian and Half-Arabian Championship Horse Show (U.S. Nationals) held at the Kentucky Fair and Expo Center in Louisville, KY, from October 7-16, 2004, named national champion, reserve and top ten winners in 104 classes. The show attracted more than 3,000 entries from across the United States and Canada representing 47 states and four Canadian provinces.

Bonnie B. Jenkins Named Executive Director of the USET Foundation
John R. Long, Chief Executive Officer of the USEF, and Frank V. Lloyd, Chairman of the Board of the USET Foundation announced on October 26 that Bonnie B. Jenkins, USEF Executive Director of High Performance will join the USET Foundation as Executive Director December 1, 2004.

Rogers and Chelstrom Ride to Victory at 2004 USEF National Junior and Amateur Eventing Championships
Avoiding the pitfalls of some soggy weekend weather, Stephen Rogers and Leslie Chelstrom rode to victory during the USEF National Junior and USEF National Amateur Eventing Championships, held at the Kentucky Horse Park, October 20-24. After scoring a 63.3 in dressage, Rogers, a 17-year-old Dallas, TX,-native, rode 9-year-old Australian Thoroughbred gelding Kelecyn Applause through double-clear cross-country and show jumping rounds to win the Harry T. Peters Trophy with a final score of 63.3. In the Amateur Championship, Bluemont, VA,-native Leslie Chelstrom won the Alexander Mackay-Smith Trophy after riding 8-year-old Thoroughbred mare Sara through double-clear cross-country and show jumping rounds, to maintain her original dressage score of 50.3.

Two USEF Riders Place at FEI Eventing World Cup
Four riders represented the United States at the FEI Eventing World Cup Final over the weekend—Sara Kozumplik riding As You Like It, James Moore riding Grieko, Bonnie Mosser riding Jenga, and Natalie Rooney-Pitts riding Aladdin. After managing a day of dressage, a challenging cross-country track designed by Pierre Michelet and a round of show jumping, two riders representing the USEF emerged in the rankings. Rooney-Pitts and Aladdin finished in 18th place and Kozumplik and As You Like It finished in 28th.

Metropolitan National Horse Show Schedule Features Day and Evening Performances
The time schedule for more than 80 hunter and jumper competitions at the upcoming Metropolitan National Horse Show features daytime and evening performances from November 3-7, 2004, at Pier 94 and the Show Piers on the Hudson in New York City. On November 7, there is a daytime performance only, which features the centerpiece of the show – the 2004 ASPCA Maclay Finals.

FEI Dressage Freestyle Forum
The International Equestrian Federation (FEI), in cooperation with Performance Sales International (PSI), will proudly present the Dressage Freestyle Forum in Ankum, Germany, February 1–2, 2005. Famous choreographers and composers will discuss the progression of freestyle with top dressage riders, judges, instructors and TV-specialists.

Traveling to the FEI World Cup
Las Vegas Events has entered into a partnership with Carlson Wagonlit Travel to create the FEI World Cup Travel Desk. The primary goal of this resource will be to assist World Cup fans with their travel needs as they prepare to come to Las Vegas in April. A website has been created, www.worldcuptraveldesk.com, to be a resource for all of your travel needs. Carlson Wagonlit has special travel packages available that include airfare, hotel reservations at host hotels and rental cars. A: Any individual competing in open hunter and/or jumper classes in USEF-recognized competitions must be an Active Member of USHJA or pay the non-member fee of $20 per competition. Week in Review Competition Results for October 2004
The United States Equestrian Federation, Inc. (USEF), as the National Equestrian Federation of the U.S., is the regulatory body for the Olympic and World Championship sports of dressage, driving, endurance, eventing, reining, show jumping, and vaulting, as well as 20 other breeds and disciplines of equestrian competition. As the country's largest multi-breed organization, the Federation has over 80,000 members and recognizes more than 2,800 competitions nationwide each year. It governs all aspects of competition, including educating and licensing all judges, stewards and technical delegates who officiate at these shows.
