Wellington, FL - Four of the United States' classiest veterans represented the U.S. in the $75,000 FEI Nations Cup presented by G&C Farm and did not disappoint a packed house of fans. They dominated the field of eight teams to win on a score of eight faults over Canada on 16. Three teams tied for third: Great Britain, Australia and Ireland, all on 37 faults. Under the lights in the International Ring at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Club, McLain Ward on Sapphire, Mario Deslauriers on Urico, Margie Engle on Indigo and Beezie Madden on Coral Reef Via Volo dominated the field in a heroic effort under the guidance of Chef d'Equipe George Morris.

Lexington, KY - The Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, presented by Bridgestone, has been named one of the Top 10 Festivals and Events for Spring 2011 by the Kentucky Tourism Council. The Rolex Kentucky, part of the HSBC FEI Classics and a perennial winner of this prestigious award, is set to be held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY, April 28-May 1. It was named as one of the Top 10 Events for Spring because this premier event is the only four-star, three-day event in the Western Hemisphere and because it brings international attention to Lexington and the Bluegrass State each spring. While attracting crowds in excess of 100,000 spectators and millions of viewers on international telecasts including a domestic broadcast on NBC, the Rolex Kentucky also features an International Sponsor Village and Trade Fair with more than 150 booths and various exciting demonstrations.

Albuquerque, NM - Dr. Ruth Wilburn, president of the Welsh Pony & Cob Society of America (WPCSA), announced a special lifetime achievement award to Thalia Gentzel for her significant contributions to the WPCSA the pony hunter world, and the lives of many young rider throughout the course of her life. From the time she was 12, Thalia rode at the old Cornell University Stables, where she was later a member of the intercollegiate team. When Mollie Butler of Brookside Farm (later GlanNant or "by the brook") brought the first Welsh ponies to upstate New York in 1953, Thalia went to teach nine-year-old Linda Butler and her friends -- and that was life changing. Thalia ended up as a classroom teacher and as a Welsh and hunter pony breeder. "The old GlanNant bloodlines are still good to us," said Thalia, "and the relationship with Linda very special."

Lexington, KY - The American Saddlebred Registry (ASR) and Half-Saddlebred Registry (HSRA) are proud to announce the launch of a new incentive program designed to identify and reward the owners and breeders of registered Saddlebreds and Half-Saddlebreds competing in the international disciplines. Beginning in 2011, horses registered with ASR or HSRA competing in dressage, driving, endurance/trail, eventing and show jumping/hunters are eligible for $15,000 in prize money based on their participation and performance in the international disciplines.

Following their second- and third-place finishes in the CDIW at the Palm Beach Dressage Derby, Elisabeth Austin and Olivier and Shawna Harding and Come On III have earned their qualification to represent the U.S. at the Reem Acra FEI World Cup Final. The 2011 Final will be held in Leipzig, Germany, April 27- May 1. Austin and Olivier's score of 70.150% placed them second behind Swedish rider Tinne Vilhelmson-Silfven on Favourit in the Grand Prix Freestyle. Harding and Come On III finished just behind them on a score of 69.250%. These riders swapped placings in the Grand Prix with Harding finishing second behind Vilhelmson-Silfven on 68.745% and Austin scoring 65.660%.

USEF to Field and Support U.S. Saddle Seat Equitation Team Competing in World Cup | |
Lexington, KY - The United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) is pleased to announce that beginning this year, it will assume responsibility for fielding and supporting the U.S. Saddle Seat Equitation Team for the Saddle Seat Equitation World Cup. The USEF will also assist in hosting the competition when held in the United States. "This is what USEF does," said Federation President David O'Connor.
