Australian Clayton Fredericks Takes the Prize at the 2007 Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, presented by Farnam; U.S. Riders Phillip Dutton and Karen O’Connor Finish Second and Third Riding for the first time under the U.S. flag, former Australian rider Phillip Dutton finished second at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, presented by Farnam, for the fifth time. But, this year, it was former Aussie teammate, Clayton Fredericks, aboard Ben Along Time, who put in the best score to take the Rolex Kentucky four-star championship on a score of 54.0. Dutton, as the highest-placed U.S. rider aboard Bruce Duchossois’ Connaught, took the Rolex/United States Equestrian Team (USET) Foundation’s Pinnacle Cup Trophy, an award celebrating its 10th year, finishing on a score of 59.1. Connaught, a 14-year-old Irish Thoroughbred, picked up his best finish to date adding just 8.4 time faults on the cross-country and two time penalties in show jumping to his dressage score.
USEF’s EQUESTRIAN Magazine Named Official Publication of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2010 EQUESTRIAN magazine, the official publication of equestrian sport since 1937 and the print voice of the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) for over seven decades, has been named as the official publication of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2010. United States Equestrian Team Foundation Awards Pinnacle Cup Trophy to Phillip Dutton as Highest-Placed American Rider at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, Presented by Farnam American rider Phillip Dutton was awarded the United States Equestrian Team (USET) Foundation’s Pinnacle Cup Trophy on Sunday afternoon at the 2007 Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event CCI****, Presented by Farnam, held April 26-29, 2007. The Pinnacle Cup is given to the highest-placed American rider.
USET Foundation Offers Athlete Portrait Campaign Posters for Sale at www.uset.org to Benefit High Performance Programs The extraordinary Athlete Portrait Campaign posters created by Elma Garcia that were on display and for sale at the 2007 Rolex FEI World Cup™ Finals in Las Vega, Nevada (April 18-22) can now be purchased via the United States Equestrian Team (USET) Foundation website at www.uset.org. There are five different posters available for a donation to the Foundation of $35 each. All proceeds from the sales of the posters benefit the U.S. equestrian team athletes and their high-performance programs. The USET Foundation is offering two single portraits and three composite posters of the Olympic disciplines featuring unique portraits of the athletes with their horses. Helping our horses to live longer, more healthful lives is a topic that we can all agree upon in terms of importance. And since 2004, the world’s largest non-profit foundation dedicated to funding research studies to protect, treat and cure animals—the Morris Animal Foundation—has organized meetings of equine researchers, research funding agencies, veterinarians and others to determine the best way it could contribute to the advancement of horse health. From those meetings came a plan to unite researchers from around the world to collaborate on what could be one of the boldest equine research endeavors to date: the Equine Consortium for Genetic Research (ECGR). The FEI World Cup™ for Young Riders will take place in Frankfurt, Germany, in December 2007 (exact dates to be determined). The United States will receive an invitation for one representative. Riders may earn qualifying freestyle scores in U.S. CDI-Y competitions, and scores are automatically tracked and rankings are maintained by USEF. St. Andrews Clinches Team Title at ANRC Nationals St. Andrews Presbyterian College (Laurinburg, NC) edged out Centenary College (Hackettstown, NJ) to claim the team championship at the 30th Annual ANRC National Intercollegiate Riding Championship on April 21-22, 2007. St. Andrews finished with 161.30 points, compared to Centenary’s 160.73. Goucher College (Maryland) was a close third, with 159.29. Defending champions, Savannah College of Art and Design (Georgia), settled into fourth place. American Association of Equine Practitioners’ Healthy Horses Workshop Heading to Colorado The American Association of Equine Practitioners’ (AAEP) Healthy Horses Workshop will be held Saturday, July 28, in Fort Collins, CO. Intended for horse enthusiasts interested in learning more about equine health care, the Healthy Horses Workshop will feature leading veterinary experts delivering the latest news and advances in horse health. This will be the first of two Healthy Horses Workshops slated for 2007, with the second workshop taking place on Saturday, December 1, in Orlando, FL. Riding for Reading Expands to Include Seven Events in 2007 Riding For Reading, a non-profit organization (501(c)3) dedicated to promoting reading, literacy and education through equestrian sports and activities, is expanding its program in 2007. In addition to the Riding For Reading Benefit Show (September 3) at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center, six other shows throughout the country will host the Riding For Reading Class.
