Martin and Doolittle Win Individual Eventing Golds, Area III Takes Two Team Golds on Final Day of 2013 Adequan/FEI North American Junior & Young Rider Championships presented by Gotham North

Lexington, KY - The 2013 Adequan/FEI North American Junior & Young Rider Championships presented by Gotham North (NAJYRC) finished Sunday after another fantastic week of top competition for Junior and Young Riders. Eventing was the focus of the final day with Team and Individual Medals for CCI1* and CCI2* riders. In the CCI2*, Caroline Martin (Area III) and Quantum Solace won the Gold and Area III was the top team. Nicole Doolittle and Tops led the victory gallop in the CCI1* competition for the Gold medal and her Area III team was golden as well.

Five disciplines (a total of 9 championships for juniors and young riders) took part in the only FEI Championship to be held annually in North America. The NAJYRC is the premier equestrian competition in North America for junior and young riders, ages 14-21...read more>

Beezie Madden Lights up Chantilly Grand Prix

Chantilly, France - Beezie Madden pulled off a stunning victory in Chantilly in a power-packed Grand Prix that saw the very best in the world in one of the most stunning jump offs of the 2013 championship race.

Beezie snatched victory from the hands of Christian Ahlmann, but his second place finish propelled him to the top of the Longines Global Tour ranking - a clear 19 points ahead of his nearest rival. Chester Weber Finishes Third in Beekbergen
At the Beekbergen CAI-A4 this weekend U.S. driving heavyweight Chester Weber earned another top international finish. In the cones phases on Sunday, Weber held onto a podium placing with a 4th place finish. Lexington, KY - On Saturday afternoon, dressage riders competed for their Freestyle Individual medals in the Rolex Stadium at the 2013 Adequan/FEI North American Junior & Young Rider Championships presented by Gotham North (NAJYRC). Ayden Uhlir (Region 6) and Sjapoer won their second Individual Gold medal of the week in the Young Rider division. Laurence Blais Tetreault and Lowelas also won another Gold medal in the Junior division. 


The top 15 Individuals advanced to the Freestyle Championship tSaturday and were judged by Bernard Maurel (FRA) at E, Linda Zang (USA) at H, Jane Ayers (USA) at C, Martin Richenhagen (GER) at M, and Annette Fransen-Iacobaeus (SWE) at B.

The highest score of the day went to Ayden Uhlir (18, Kirkland, WA) and Sjapoer.her 14-year-old KWPN gelding by Contango. They had judges' scores of 74.000% at E, 68.375% at H, 73.625% at C, 73.625% at M, and 71.250% at B for a total of 72.175% and the Gold medal.

EnduranceRoberts Wins Endurance Gold, USA Southeast Takes Endurance Team Gold

Lexington, KY - Four teams were fielded for this year's endurance race and it was a great opportunity for young riders to experience the FEI competition and what they can do for their country in the future. Leading the Gold medal-winning team for the USA Southeast was Cassandra Roberts (16, Bronson, FL) on Viktory Banner, who also won the Individual Gold medal with a winning time of 6:19:31.

This was the first time that Roberts had ridden Viktory Banner in competition. She got the ride on him after her mare was injured. "I've ridden him a little in training, but that's all," she said. "I expected to go fast! He had a lot of experience before I started riding him. He's an amazing horse. It was pretty exciting. It makes me feel pretty good to win two Gold medals."..read more>

Lexington, KY - The 2013 SmartPak Reining Championships concluded Saturday in the Alltech Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park with two high-scoring rounds of high-level reining.

For the Young Riders, it was the scorching hot score of 219 from Canada's Madison Steed to secure the Gold medal showing Jumpin Jac Trash (2007 AQHA Gelding). Steed, a veteran of FEI Young Rider competition, showed with great confidence and skill securing a five point lead over the Silver medal score.

Steed said that her pattern felt "really good" in the Individual competition. "I stayed out of the penalty box this time, so I was really happy with it," she said. "It all goes back to my horse. He doesn't stop; he has so much try in him. He's a cool horse that way. You can push him as hard as you want. I really owe it to him."..read more>

Twenty Nations to Bid For Dressage and Para-Dressage Medals at FEI European Championships in Herning

The definite entries for the Blue Hors FEI European Dressage Championships and the JYSK FEI European Para-Dressage Championships are now finalised, with 20 countries confirming their participation in both disciplines.


The ECCO FEI European Championships, which take place in Herning (DEN) from 20 to 25 August, will be the first European Championships to host Para-Dressage alongside Dressage and Jumping.


The Dressage start list will have a total of 69 riders, with 15 National Federations entering full teams. The countries bidding for team medals are: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. Five nations will be represented by individuals: Armenia, Ireland, Poland, Russia and Ukraine...read more>  



2013 ASHA Youth Scholarship Recipients Named

The American Saddlebred Horse Association (ASHA) has announced the names of their 2013 ASHA Youth Scholarship recipients. 

The individuals receiving scholarships are Foster Roberts of Georgetown, Kentucky; Loewe Kasprenski of Allentown, Pennsylvania and Gabriella Greco of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. There was also a recipient chosen for the ASHA of Alabama Youth Scholarship which was Sheila Palmer of Birmingham, Alabama.


The purpose of these scholarships is to encourage, support and recognize participation in all aspects of the American Saddlebred industry, as well as to strengthen the American Saddlebred industry and breed through education.
