Margie Engle Reaches World Equestrian Brands and Amerigo Saddles/USHJA Rider Recognition Program’s Elite $1 Million Club

By Whitney Allen
Margie Engle, one of the winningest grand prix riders in the history of the sport, recently added another accolade to her long list of accomplishments. The Olympic and Pan American Games veteran reached the $1 Million Club of the United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) Rider Recognition Program sponsored by World Equestrian Brands. The program was created in 2005 to track the overall lifetime money earnings of professional hunter and jumper riders. Each year, total monies won are added and recognition is given to riders based on six levels of achievement—$50,000 Level, $75,000 Level, $100,000 Level, $250,000 Level, $500,000 Level and $1 Million Club.
Engle’s win aboard Tosca 290 in the Equestrian Sport Production’s Spring 5 $25,000 Plus Grand Prix in May pushed her into the elite $1 Million Club. Engle and the nine-year-old mare, owned by Hidden Creek Farm, Inc., bested 25 other entries to ride to the first-place prize money. Hidden Creek Farm, Inc., an Oak Creek, WI-based facility, owns the majority of horses that Engle has ridden to her milestone, including Quervo Gold, Pamina L, Coraya Z and Campella. Engle’s personal horse, Landini, a seven-year-old Oldenburg gelding, has also been instrumental in helping her reach the exclusive club.
