USEF Olympic Equestrians Congratulated by President Bush

The Equestrian Olympic athletes that represented the United States in Athens this year had the extraordinary opportunity to meet the President and First Lady at the White House. Following a tradition started with President Gerald Ford, President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush greeted the athletes in style on October 18. The event was sponsored by the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) on behalf of all of the members of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Teams.

IFSHA Holds First USEF-Recognized Grand Nationals

The International Friesian Show Horse Association (IFSHA) holds the first USEF-recognized national championship competition near Los Angeles at the City of Industry Equestrian Center to showcase the Friesian horse and its derivatives.

Young Wins 2004 USEF/Pessoa Hunter Seat Medal Final

Megan Young, 18, of Jacksonville, FL, defeated a field full of the nation’s top junior riders to win the 2004 USEF/Pessoa National Hunter Seat Medal Final, on Sunday, October 17, at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show.

Phillips Wins 2004 USEF Individual National Junior Jumper Championships; Zone 2 Takes Team Title

Making a name for herself amidst a field of 30 young riders, 15-year-old Addison Phillips, of New York, NY, and her mount, Cantus Anuberth II, won the 2004 USEF Individual National Junior Jumper Championship, which took place October 14-16 at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show. Phillips was awarded a Triple Crown custom award blanket after the win. Coming in second was 16-year-old Cody Auer, of Fairfield, CT, atop Regina, followed by 14-year-old Aimee Aron, of Keswick, VA, on Jamaica.

Phillip Dutton and Tom Hutchinson Dominate at the Fair Hill International Festival in Eventing and Endurance

Two-time Olympic Team Gold medalist Phillip Dutton of Australia won the Fair Hill International CCI*** Three-Day Event for the third time at the 16th Annual Fair Hill International Festival in the Country in Maryland..

The inclement weather could not dampen the excitement of the Fair Hill International CEI*** 100-Mile FEI Endurance Ride. After 100 grueling miles, it was a thrilling race to the finish with the top four only seconds apart. In the end it was Tom Hutchinson of Bethel, ME, aboard Prymtym crossing the wire first to win in a ride time of 11:42:33.

Largest U.S. Indoors Finals Hunter/Jumper Event Just Around the Corner

The 46th annual Washington International Horse Show (WIHS), the top U.S. year-end indoors finals hunter/jumper event, will take over the action at the MCI Center in downtown Washington, DC, beginning October 26 through October 31. Over 500 horses and riders will “bring the country to the city” as top international riders compete for over $400,000 in prize money.

FEI Dressage Freestyle Forum

The International Equestrian Federation (FEI), in cooperation with Performance Sales International (PSI), will proudly present the Dressage Freestyle Forum in Ankum, Germany, February 1–2, 2005. Famous choreographers and composers will discuss the progression of freestyle with top dressage riders, judges, instructors and TV-specialists.

Vaulting Exhibition Highlights November 4 Evening At Metropolitan National Horse Show

Q: How can I join/renew my membership with the United States Equestrian Federation?


A: There are several options:
1. You can join/renew online. In order to join or renew online, you must create an Authorized Users Account (AUA). Click here to sign up. Once you create your AUA, you can log in to your account and select the Membership/Renewal application for the appropriate year.
2. You can submit an application by fax, mail or hand-delivery to the USEF office. Membership applications can be obtained by contacting the USEF office or printing from the website. Click here to download.
3. You can join/renew via phone with a Membership Representative. Any membership applications completed via phone will incur an additional $10 charge. Exception: If you are completing the amateur certification portion of the application, the Membership Department must receive a hardcopy of a USEF Membership Application with the Amateur Certification portion completed and signed.

Dressage at Devon Presents “Born in the USA” AwardsThe red, white and blue were all over the Dixon Oval at the “Born in the USA” Awards at the 30th Annual Dressage at Devon Horse Show. High-scorers in 11 breed division categories were adorned with bright, patriotic rosettes and awarded a certificate of achievement, a stall plaque and a “Born in the USA” commemorative medal. The owners and breeders shared a generous purse in excess of $10,000, with 75% going to the owners, and 25% to the breeders. The two high scorers received sashes and coolers as well.

Brooks and Schobel Ride to Victory at Dressage at Devon North American Breeders Futurity

Jacqueline Brooks on Balmoral and Elly Schobel on Raison d’Etre were the top scorers in the North American Breeders Futurity FEI Dressage Test for Five-Year-Old Horses and Six-Year-Old Horses respectively at the 2004 Dressage at Devon.

Week in Review Competition Results for October 2004



The United States Equestrian Federation, Inc. (USEF), as the National Equestrian Federation of the U.S., is the regulatory body for the Olympic and World Championship sports of dressage, driving, endurance, eventing, reining, show jumping, and vaulting, as well as 20 other breeds and disciplines of equestrian competition. As the country's largest multi-breed organization, the Federation has over 80,000 members and recognizes more than 2,800 competitions nationwide each year. It governs all aspects of competition, including educating and licensing all judges, stewards and technical delegates who officiate at these shows.
