By Mary Jones fro the Pin Oak Charity Horse Show
Keely McIntosh and Eddy Money (Shawn McMillen)
Houston, TX - In the saddle is a natural place to be for Keely McIntosh, a vibrant young woman with a passion for horses, equestrian sports, and a full life ahead of her. Keely has ridden since before she could walk and competed in Pony Club before she could read. Older girls had to read her the written Pony Club ratings tests, and her family jokes that Keely learned her letters from the dressage arena. By age 6, Keely was showing in the Hunter ring in Welsh Pony classes. Her riding repertoire also includes Western, Eventing, and Charity Trail Riding to benefit SIRE programs. Today, Keely, 19 from Magnolia,Texas, is a show jumper competing in A and AA shows and, more times than not, lands in the top spot of the Amateur/Owner Show Jumping classes. However, all her years in the saddle never prepared her for an unexpected, life-changing moment with her horse in the ring...read more>

ASHA Faithful Friend of the Week:
CHUnamimous Consent
from ASHA
"My story is in honor of a wonderful horse and friend, CHUnanimous Consent. When I was introduced to "Ennis" in 2011, I had not ridden or shown for over 2 years. I had truly missed the American Saddlebred world, and most of all, the unique camaraderie between horse and rider. There was no doubt that CHUnanimous Consent was bold and handsome, often referred to as 'the big horse.' I remember sensing his intriguingly warm personality that matched his kind eyes. It was obvious to me that he liked people and people liked him."..read more>
Freres d Ames by Elise Genest Wins the IALHA Equine Art Contest
from IALHA
We (IAHLA) are pleased to announce the artwork selected to be displayed on the 2013 National Championship Show in October. The winning artist is Elise Genest a Canadian painter and photographer from the Quebec City area whose work is entirely devoted to horses. Her work "Frères d'Âmes" ("Soul Brothers") was selected to grace the 2013 IALHA National Championship Show program cover as well as apparel, posters and other merchandise.

Though she is only 29 years of age, she has many years of experience in the equine world and her passion for the horse provides a powerful stimulus for her to perfect her techniques as an artist. She grew up in a family of artists, became involved in raising horses at a very early age, and quickly learned some of their secrets. Her ability to share her enthusiasm with other horse lovers is evident in the beautiful calendars and prints for which she is known. Since 2005 she has exhibited her work at major equestrian events in Canada and the United States. Elise will win a free booth at the IALHA National Show and a print of "Frères d'Âmes"  will be displayed in the Silent Auction at the Nationals. The subjects for "Frères d'Âmes" are Cruzerio and Zairo, Lusitanos from Interago Lusitano, now at Treasure Coast Dressage, Florida, and is mixed media on canvas 36" x 48."..read more>
