Ward Does It Again at $75,000 Empire State Grand Prix


North Salem, NY - After winning last week's $40,000 Old Salem Farm Grand Prix on Grant Road Partners' Antares F McLain Ward, Brewster, NY, and Grant Road Partners' Zander captured the top prize in the $75,000 Empire State Grand Prix Sponsored by the Kincade Group to cap off two weeks of competition at the Old Salem Spring Horse Shows in North Salem, NY.

A total of 10 horse-and-rider combinations from the starting field of 33 qualified for the jump-off. Cara Raether, North Palm Beach, FL, and Trelawny Farm's Lyonell were the first to go and took the lead with a clear round in 47.210 seconds. U.S. Young Rider Team Ties for Fourth at Nations Cup in Belgium
U.S. Junior and Young Riders enjoyed a great first weekend in Europe (USEF Archive)
Bonheiden, Belgium - A team of four American riders took to the course in Young Rider Nations Cup competition at the CSIOYJ Bonheiden Saturday afternoon and jumped their way into a tie for fourth place. The U.S. Team's top performer of the day was Alise Oken (Charlotte, NC) & Hi Hopes Farm's Kaid Du Ry. They offered one of the strongest showings of the day and jumped two clear efforts over both rounds of competition. Oken & Kaid Du Ry were one of only two pairs to produce double clear rounds Saturday.  
Annie Cook & Signe Ostby's Banba and Lydia Ulrich & Beth Congel and Up The Creek Farm's Santos Utopia both improved from round to round. Cook (Woodside, CA) had 12 faults in the first round and 8 in the second. Ulrich (Rochester, NY) improved on 8 faults in round one to score a 4 fault total in round more>

Lexington, KY - It was a very exciting night for Ireland's Richie Moloney as he captured his first international grand prix victory, riding Slieveanorra during the $75,000 Mary Rena Murphy Grand Prix at the Kentucky Spring Classic. U.S. Saddle Seat Team Holds First Practice in New Orleans

New Orleans, LA - In preparation for the 2012 Saddle Seat World Cup Competition in South Africa, the U.S. Saddle Seat Team attended their first practice, May 18-19 at Cascade Stables in New Orleans, Louisiana.

This first practice session afforded riders the opportunity to prepare for World Cup competition. Team members had the opportunity to ride multiple horses unfamiliar to them, just as they will in South Africa. Final 100 Days to London 2012 Paralympic Games

Today, 21 May, marks 100 days to go to the London 2012 Paralympic Games. The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has announced that these will officially be the biggest Games ever, with 165 countries set to participate in 21 sports over 17 days.
Para-Dressage riders from 26 nations have qualified to participate in the equestrian events, which will take place at Greenwich Park from 30 August to 4 September.
Host nation Great Britain, Germany, Denmark and Canada have qualified the maximum number of riders and will each be represented by a team of four and one individual. Nine countries - USA, The Netherlands, Brazil, Ireland, Italy, Belgium, South Africa, Australia and France - have qualified four riders..

Megan Harris has sent a report on the Area III Eventing Championships. Megan says, "Eleven purebred and halfbred Connemaras competed at Poplar Place Farm's May Horse Trials, and USEA's Area III Championships, May 5th-6th.
