McLain Ward Named to the USEF Show Jumping Long List for the 2012 Olympic Games with Antares F and Sapphire

Lexington, KY - The United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) Ad Hoc Committee on Selection has approved naming McLain Ward with both Antares F and Sapphire to the Show Jumping Long List for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.


Due to the fact that Ward will not be able to compete in the Selection Trials because of an injury he sustained in January 2012, the USEF Selectors in consultation with Chef d'Equipe George Morris and Team Veterinarian Dr. Tim Ober, voted unanimously to name Ward on both Grant Road Partners, LLC's Antares F and Blue Chip Bloodstock's Sapphire to the Show Jumping Long List for the 2012 Olympic Games at this more>

US Ties for Fourth in the $75,000 FEI Nations Cup presented by G&C Farm at CSIO Wellington

Wellington, FL- Clear rounds were the way to win at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center as 10 countries took part in the $75,000 FEI Nations Cup presented by G&C Farm. The US team jumped to an equal fourth place finish with the team from Great Britian over Anthony D 'Ambrosio's 12 obstacle course. They finished on a 22 fault total. Of the 10 nations to contest America's only Nations Cup, the top six teams from the first round returned to the International Ring for round two. The German team of Jorg Opperman and Che Guevara 17, David Will and Don Cesar, Johannes Ehning and Salvador V and Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum and Checkmate 4 claimed top honors on four total faults. USEF Announces 2012 High School Equestrian Athlete Grants
Lexington, KY - In 2012 the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) will offer more than $20,000 in grant money to qualified students and high school equestrian clubs or teams across the nation through its High School Equestrian Athlete program. 

To be eligible for a grant an applicant must be a current USEF High School Equestrian Athlete program participant and have successfully completed at least one year of the program. The applicant must also be a member of at least one USEF Recognized Breed/Discipline Affiliate or International Affiliate Association. A subcommittee of the National Affiliate Working Group will select one applicant from each Recognized Breed/Discipline Affiliate or International Affiliate Association to receive a $1,000 grant to be used for academic or equestrian educational more>

Chester Weber Captures FEI Four-In-Hand Division At 2012 Little Everglades Combined Driving Event

Dade City, FL  - One year after adding the talented horses Uniek and Splash to his team, Weber once again drove away as the winner of the FEI Four-In-Hand division at the 2012 Little Everglades Combined Driving Event. Weber debuted Uniek and Splash at the Dade City, Florida, competition last year and returned this year to reclaim his title.

"I was very pleased with how my team performed. They were super," Weber said. "One of the highlights of the event was our dressage test. It went very well with Uniek and Splash, who are owned by Jane Forbes Clark, in the lead; Boris was the left wheel for the first time and Senate in the right wheel." more>


2013 Nutrena USEA American Eventing Championships To Be Held At Texas Rose Horse Park

The USEA's Board of Governors met this week and voted to approve the Texas Rose Horse Park in Tyler, Texas as the site for the 2013 Nutrena USEA American Eventing Championships presented by Bit of Britain.  The 500 acre facility is conveniently located in the heart of Area V in the beautiful rolling hills of East Texas and features extensive amenities. This will be the fourth site to host the championships, which began in 2004 at the Carolina Horse Park in Raeford, North Carolina and moved to Lamplight Equestrian Center in Wayne, Illinois in 2007. For the last two years the championships have been at Carl Bouckaert's Chattahoochee Hills in Fairburn, Georgia and the USEA is looking forward to our third event there in more>

NCEA Hires Businesswoman Maggie Bellville as First Executive Director.

The National Collegiate Equestrian Association has hired its first executive director.  Longtime AQHA exhibitor and Atlanta businesswoman Maggie Bellville is taking the helm to lead the organization's push into full National Collegiate Athletic Association championship status.


Maggie began her new job the week of February 20, working on conference calls and attending an equestrian match, she told The American Quarter Horse Journal in an exclusive interview.


"We are excited to have Maggie on board with the National Collegiate Equestrian Team," said Casie Lisabeth, president of NCEA and head coach of Kansas State University equestrian. "We are in need of a 'voice' for NCEA and I think she will be a great representative for our sport. She has kicked off her term with great enthusiasm, so I am anxious to see her take off with this new position." more>

Wellington, FL - Nick Skelton of Great Britain continued his winning ways at the 2012 FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) with a victory in Sunday afternoon's $150,000 Wellington Equestrian Realty Grand Prix CSIO 4* riding Beverley Widdowson's Carlo 273. The pair beat out Laura Kraut (USA) and Cherry Knoll Farm Inc.'s Cedric and Richie Moloney (IRL) and Equinimity LLC's Ahorn Van De Zuuthoeve, who finished second and third respectively.

The competition concluded the FTI WEF's CSIO week eight, sponsored by G&C Farm. Week nine, sponsored by The Bainbridge Companies, will run March 7-11. The week will feature the $200,000 FEI World Cup Qualifier Grand Prix CSI 4* presented by The Bainbridge Companies as well as the $20,000 Artisan Farms Young Rider Grand Prix Series Team Event. 2011 Sport Horse Incentive Winners; Deadline to Enroll in the American Saddlebred Registry Sport Horse Incentive Program is April 1, 2012

Lexington, KYDon't miss out on your chance to earn prize money with your American Saddlebred or Half-Saddlebred through the American Saddlebred Registry (ASR) Sport Horse Incentive Program.    

In 2011, a total of 16 horses were in enrolled in various disciplines including; combined driving, distance riding, dressage and eventing. A total of $15,000 in prize money was offered and the complete list of winners and payouts can be found here.
To be eligible, horses must be registered with the American Saddlebred Registry (ASR) and Half-Saddlebreds must be registered with the Half-Saddlebred Registry of America (HSRA). Horses must be enrolled in the program by April 1. Due to the enrollment closing date falling on a Sunday, postmark bearing the date of the following day will be accepted. The enrollment fee is $150 per competition year. Enrollment forms are available here.
