It's a blissfully warm day in January, and my horse Nicolai is galloping alongside crashing surf as cars roll by. The passengers stare -wistful or shocked, I'm not sure - as we hop over piles of seaweed. This, I think, is the greatest thing I've ever done.

The week before, Nicolai and I rode out among cattle. We chased calves along the creek and followed the ridge to a quiet spot above the barn. Usually, we are show jumpers, but sometimes we ride for miles along trails, down rural roads, and to the ocean. For equestrians like me, the beauty of California is...read more>

"I'm so proud of each and every ride our ladies put down this weekend," said Western Head Coach Stephanie Reeves. "The teams we hosted offered up good competition, but we took everything we have been working on and put it to work which brought us great results! IALHA Halter and Futurity Update
from IALHA
We are pleased that we received nominations for 18 purebreds for the 2012-2015 halter futurity. Just for comparison sake, we had 13 purebreds nominated last year for the 2011-2014 and the year before, in 2010, 19 nominations. Unfortunately, we only received two half-Andalusian futurity nominations for 2012-2015 and both from the same owner/member. Rather than winning her own money back, this participant agreed to credit her nomination payments to her purebreds and we will not conduct the 2012 half-Andalusian futurity. Click here for a list horses are currently eligible, upon receipt of all required payments, for futurities.
