FAQs

Horse Recording / Horse ID Application

You can request a horse recording or horse ID using the on line application. In order to determine whether a recording or ID is needed for your horse or pony, please click HERE for the Horse Recording FAQs.

Horse Recording

In order to record your horse on line:

  1. Sign in to your My USEF My Way My Account.
  2. Under the Horse Options Section, select Horse Recording Application/ID.
  3. Read the Website Notice. Click Continue.
  4. In Competition Renewal: If you complete an USEF online horse recording application during a competition or your horse is at a competition at the time you are completing the Horse Recording Application, you must put click on yes and type the competition number in this section of the online application in order for your membership to have the start date of the competition and USEF Horse of the Year (HOTY) points to count. If you are not at a competition, click no.
  5. Under each Category (Horse ID, Life or Annual, USHJA Registration), click on the applicable circle. Example: Annual Recording ($75). For any horse where no action needs to be taken, simply select "no change." At the bottom of the screen type in your name as requested. Click on Add New Horse if you want to record one or click Continue to Payment Screen.
  6. At the top of the Add New Horse screen you can search the USEF database if you think your horse may already have a current USEF number.
  7. If you are trying to transfer ownership, record a lease, complete a name change of a horse with an active recording or obtain the Life discounts, please click on the link that states "Click HERE to download applicable form to report these changes" as you cannot complete these transactions on this online procedure.

    To continue with the online horse application: Complete the application form. Required fields are in navy. If you do not know the Sire or Dam type in "Unknown". In the Markings section please type in "None" if your horse has no markings.

  8. When finished and you are at the Payment Summary Screen: Your horse(s) will appear in the box at top of page. Your total charge will appear under Payment Summary. Under Payment Information, enter your credit card type (USEF accepts VISA , American Express, MasterCard and echeck), expiration date, and card number (16 digits with no spaces or other characters). Also input the zip code for the billing address of the credit card and credit card holder's first and last name. The card code is also required. This is the number found on the back of your credit card.
  9. Click only ONCE to Continue. If the transaction was not completed successfully, the program will not go to the receipt step (next step). You can enter another credit card number and try again. If your transaction was completed successfully, you will go to the receipt page.
  10. If your transaction was completed successfully, print the receipt page for your records. Click the link for an online Horse Recording card or a Horse Recording 45 day Show Verification.
Horse ID

In order to request a horse ID on line:

  1. Sign in to your My USEF My Way My Account.
  2. Under the Horse Options Section, select Horse Recording Application/ID.
  3. Read the notice. Click Continue.
  4. Read the information at the top. In Category, select Horse ID (No charge).
  5. Complete the application form. Required fields are in navy.
  6. Click Continue.
  7. Read the Notice (clicking Continue indicates the acceptance of the terms in the Notice). The payment summary will display a total of $0, indicating no charge for the horse ID. Click ONCE to Continue.
  8. You will get a response indicating no charge. Click Continue.
  9. You will be notified that your horse ID information was submitted. You can click the links to either record or ID another horse or return to the My USEF My Way My Account menu.
