Legendary horseman Eugene "Gene" Mische, the founder of Stadium Jumping, Inc., passed away December 3 following a long, hard fought battle with cancer. Born in Cleveland, OH, on June 26, 1931, Mische changed the face of horse sports in the United States. He recently celebrated more than 60 years in the equestrian industry and over the course of his stellar career managed the most prestigious shows in America. He was 79 years old.

Kimbler was selected from an outstanding group of youth representing their respective recognized breed and discipline affiliates from across the country. An avid endurance competitor from Aberdeen, SD, she was nominated by both the Arabian Horse Association (AHA) and the American Endurance Ride Conference (AERC).

This award is given to the endurance athlete who earns the most points in selected Ranking Trials during the ride year.

Eventing USEF Announces 2011 Eventing High Performance Training Lists | |
Lexington, KY - The Eventing High Performance Training Lists have been revised for the 2011 Land Rover U.S. Eventing Team. These riders will be invited to participate in training sessions this winter with Capt. Mark Phillips. The Eventing Selectors and High Performance Committee revised the approach to the training lists with the objective of being successful at the 2012 London Olympic Games. It is anticipated the new structure will allow more focus on the riders themselves, and allow more exposure for some of the talented young horses coming up through the levels.

Katy, TX - Paul Kathen received The Dressage Foundation's second annual Region 9 Teaching Excellence Award at the Great American/USDF Region 9 Championships held in Katy, TX, November 4-7. He received a $5,000 award for demonstrating outstanding abilities as a dressage teacher. Meg Flemming, originator of the award, said "The best teachers communicate the principles of dressage by utilizing effective education methodology that would be recognized by any Education Specialist in any field. Paul Kathen does just that."

Oklahoma City, OK - Jordan Larson and Spooks Gotta Whiz were crowned the 2010 Level 4 Open Futurity champions at the NRHA Futurity & Adequan North American Affiliate Championship (NAAC) Show at the Oklahoma State Fair Park. The duo scored a 227 in the finals and a $125,000 check for the win. The stallion by Spooks Gotta Gun and out of Prettywhizprettydoes is owned by Michell Anne Kimball of Encinita, CA. This year's riders were mounted on world-class reining horses all aiming for the $125,000 championship purse and their share of NRHA Corporate Partner and Futurity Sponsor awards.

U.S. riders in Paris, France, had a very successful week at the Gucci Masters, which featured a CSI1*, CSI2* and CSI5*. In the CSI1*, Terri Anne Kessler and Katherine Dinan notched several wins over the weekend. Kessler and Ice d'Ancoeur won the Prix Artemide, Prix Eads and the Eurodocument Grand Prix 1.15m classes. With Swiss Franc, Kessler was second in the Prix Artemide 1.25m class. Dinan and Major De La Mare picked up wins in the Prix Eads and the Eurodocument Grand Prix 1.25m classes.
