USET Foundation Honors 2006 Asmis and Warrington Grant Winners
In the equestrian world, one of the most beneficial things that the United States Equestrian Team (USET) Foundation does is award grants that help riders achieve their goals. The USET Foundation awarded two grants this year. The Carl-Henrich Asmis Grant was given to Heather Blitz, a dressage rider now based in Denmark. The Amanda Warrington Grant was awarded to Sara Mittleider of Kuna, ID, for three-day eventing training.
The Carl-Heinrich Asmis grant was donated by Mrs. Carl-Heinrich Asmis in 1973 in honor of her late husband. Colonel Asmis, originally from Germany, fought in World War I and taught dressage when he moved to America. He was one of the earliest members of the American Horse Shows Association (AHSA) Dressage Committee.

From the November issue of EQUESTRIAN magazine:
A Barn for Every Budget
Horse people and barns. What is it that makes us want to hang out at the barn rather than at home? Is it the smell of leather and fresh shavings, the nickers that greet us when we walk through the door or the camaraderie of people who share our passion? Or the fact that time at the barn is some of the most rewarding time spent during our day?
Whatever the reason, designing a barn that meets your needs and sticking to a budget that doesn’t break the bank can be a wonderful experience...or a nightmare if things go wrong.
No matter whether you’re building a barn on a shoestring or money’s no object, there are ways to make the process as painless as possible, and most importantly, ensure that your barn is a happy, healthful place for your horses for years to come.
