A Storm of Show Jumping Has A Silver Lining for the USA In A Thrilling Jump-Off

It’s official…the USA has found the “silver lining” in what turned out to be a nail-biting, stomach-churning jump-off between the Americans and the Swedes for the Silver and Bronze Team show jumping medals. In the four-on-four jump-off, Team USA was up seven-plus seconds with three riders (Peter Wylde, McLain Ward and Chris Kappler) having all posted clear rounds on the shortened course. The Swedes (Peter Ericksson, Peder Fredericson and Malin Baryard) could not meet the time. Considering that the last rider could have a drop score…it was a done deal. The U.S. brings home a sweet Silver medal for their valiant efforts on a night when holding your breath brought on new meaning. The final Team results: Germany – Gold; U.S. – Silver (in a repeat of the 1988 Seoul and 1996 Atlanta Olympics); and a proud Swedish team, the Bronze. It was the first Team medal for Sweden since the 1928 Games in Amsterdam. To say it was a thrilling, unforgettable night wouldn’t quite do it justice.

Debbie McDonald and Brentina Finish Olympic Journey In Fourth Place Finish After the Freestyle

Let the music play! The artistic impression created by the Musical Freestyle in dressage has gained fans worldwide since its inclusion in the Olympic program. This afternoon’s dressage riders were anxious to share their interpretive and stirring performances with a dressage stadium of fans ready to rock, swing and waltz. The list of riders had been shortened to the top 15 scorers from the combined first two rounds (Grand Prix and Special). From classic to techno, and from pop to show tunes, the crowd tapped its collective feet and swayed to an afternoon of music on the final day of dressage.

NetJets, a Proud Sponsor of the USEF

The USEF has announced its newest partner, NetJets, a Berkshire Hathaway Company. In addition to supporting the weekly e-newsletter, Week in Review, NetJets is sponsoring several USEF events across the country in an effort to meet face-to-face with the USEF membership and promote the advantages of owning a jet aircraft...at a fraction of the cost.

NetJets is the world-wide leader in fractional aircraft ownership, which allows individuals and companies to buy a piece (as little as one-sixteenth) of a private business jet at a fraction of the cost of whole aircraft ownership, and then guarantees availability 365 days a year with just a few hours notice. NetJets offers 13 different aircraft choices, which will fly more than 250,000 flights to over 140 different countries in 2004.

For individuals and businesses interested in the benefits of fractional aircraft ownership but are not ready to make that financial commitment, or who have flying requirements of less than 50 hours each year, The Marquis Jet Card is an ideal program. The Marquis Jet Card is sold in 25-hour increments of "occupied" hourly time.

As part of the partnership, USEF is offering 4 VIP tickets for the 2005 World Cup Finals in Las Vegas to any USEF member purchasing a NetJets fractional ownership or Marquis Jet Card prior to January 1, 2005. The World Cup promises to be a spectacular competition since it will be the first time both the Dressage and Show Jumping World Cup Championships will be held concurrently. Not to mention, you can enjoy the variety of shows, dining and other entertainment options only Las Vegas has to offer.

If you’re interested in speaking to a NetJets representative in your area, please contact Ashley Van Meter of the USEF Purchasing Program at (866) 678.4289.
