Rounding out a weekend of sweeps in the 2010 Collecting Gaits Farm/USEF Festival of Champions, Kayce Redmond (Alpharetta, GA) held on to her lead from the first competition and delivered her second consecutive winning performance with Latino in the Dick and Jane Brown Arena at the USET Foundation Headquarters. Photo by Randi Muster.  | Lexington, KY - August 15, 2010 - A mist of Show Sheen, check. A dab of hoof polish, check. A last pat for good luck, check. On Sunday, the clock began to wind down on the six-days of excitement that was the 2010 USEF Pony Finals National Championships. Still, as riders gathered for the final contest, The Equisport Insurance/USEF Pony Medal, attention to detail was not lost. Over 190 riders made their way to the Kentucky Horse Park's Covered Arena for their last shot at "pony immortality" this morning, but only one left with the Gold and the title of Medal Champion.
Isabelle Caccamise, 14, of Westport, CT, and her medium pony, Better Than Good, emerged victorious, capturing the top prize in the Medal Finals.

Photo by SusanJStickle.com.  | The second weekend of competition in the Collecting Gaits Farm/USEF Festival of in Gladstone, NJ at the USET Foundation Headquarters. This week saw National Champions crowned in the Junior, Young Rider, and Brentina Cup divisions. The Grand Prix division, which served as the USEF Selection Trial for the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games also wrapped up with a second Grand Prix on Friday and the Grand Prix Freestyle on Sunday.
The National Junior Dressage Championships began the weekend with 12 riders contesting the FEI Junior Team Test. The class was led by Jamie Pestana and Winzalot with a score of 68.500%, Catherine Chamberlain and Verdicci were just off the pace with a score of 68.486%, and third place was taken by Genay Vaughn and Waranja. On Saturday in the individual test, Pestana and Winzalot were the only ones to score over a 70% earning a 70.236% to become the National Junior Dressage Champions. Topsail Whiz - NRHA's First $7 Million Sire | Oklahoma City, OK - In 2008, NRHA Hall of Fame inductee Topsail Whiz reached the top of the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) all-time sire list with total offspring earnings of $5,527,700 surpassing Hollywood Dun It's mark of $5,494,100. The following year, the stallion achieved another NRHA milestone by becoming the first sire in NRHA history to have offspring earnings in excess of $6 million. The Laurels at Landhope CDE Combines International Competition and Family Fun | The Laurels at Landhope International Combined Driving Event, one of the most prestigious events of its kind in the U.S., will be held in West Grove, Chester County, PA September 10-12, 2010. Combining family fun with international equestrian competition in a beautiful country setting just 40 miles from Philadelphia, the event hosts the best drivers from Canada, Mexico and the United States, who compete in a series of three events with combinations from single horses and ponies to four-in-hands. It features competition in Preliminary, Intermediate and Advanced Divisions. The Laurels features the U.S. National Championships for ponies and pair horses.
Combined driving requires a unique partnership between horse or pony and driver that relies on training and trust. An offshoot of ridden three-day eventing, it features the elegance of dressage, the excitement of cross-country and a cones course, an intricate test of skill and precision. EEI and Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event Announce Transition Leadership Team | Lexington, KY - August 17, 2010 - Equestrian Events, Inc. (EEI), organizer of the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, has announced a transition leadership team as it prepares for the retirement of Executive Vice President and Event Director Jane Atkinson after more than 36 years of service.
Atkinson will be the Eventing Discipline Manager for the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games this fall and will formally retire after those games. Read More>

Arabian Horse Foundation Announces 2010 Grants & Scholarships | Aurora, CO - The Arabian Horse Foundation (AHF) has announced it awarded $15,000 in grants and youth scholarships this year.
Since the Foundation was re-launched three years ago, the nonprofit entity, which is the philanthropic arm of the Arabian Horse Association (AHA), has given over $75,000 in grants and scholarships. The AHF recently awarded $5,000 in Scholarships, $5,000 to Rescue and Rehoming of horses, and $5,000 to Equine Research. Read More>

USEF Awards Shetland Members With High Point Awards at 2010 Shetland Pony Congress Show | Ardmore, OK - United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) members were given special recognition at the Shetland Pony Congress Show, where they not only topped their divisions but were also awarded USEF Shetland Member High Point Awards by the United States Equestrian Federation. Lori Nelson, Assistant Executive Director of the USEF, presented the awards to the winners at the 2010 Shetland Pony Congress Show held this month in Ardmore, OK.
The winners received special ribbons from the USEF and a gift certificate to the show vendor, Stitches and Ink. The winners included: Denise Johnson, Champion in Adult Roadster High Point Award and Kim Herron, Reserve Champion; Alicia Harris, Champion in Adult Pleasure Driving High Point Award and Cheryl Manahan, Reserve Champion; and Julie Zander, Champion in Overall Youth High Point Award and Macy Plemmons, Reserve Champion. National Morgan Headquarters Set to Move September 2 | Shelburne, VT - The American Morgan Horse Association (AMHA) has announced that its national headquarters is moving to a new office facility at the end of the month. The office and employees are moving September 2-8 and will be closed for business during these days. AMHA will resume its regular business hours on Thursday, September 9.

The American Horse Shows Association (AHSA) Equitation Medal was established in 1937 by the fourth President of AHSA, Adrian Van Sinderen, as part of his strategy to connect horse people across the United States. In 1950, the Medal Final was fashioned into the competition format we now know, with qualifying classes and Final to determine the overall winner. Hannah Goodson-Cutt's Superman Wins the USEF Junior Hunter National Championships - West Coast | Under the sunny skies that Southern California is known for, Junior Hunter riders took the field for a second day of competition at the USEF Junior Hunter National Championships - West Coast. The riders competed Tuesday over Scott Starnes' Handy Hunter course and in the under saddle portion of the competition. Wednesday, they came back for the Classic phase to determine who would go home with the Junior Hunter Finals title.
The judges-Sue Ashe, Mindy Darst and Leo Conroy-were impressed with the accuracy and skill of the competitors. Starnes provided the riders a chance to demonstrate the skills that they had been perfecting all year and allowed them the ability to showcase their mounts' form. Read More>

APHA Launches Website for Regional Clubs | Fort Worth, TX - The American Paint Horse Association (APHA) announced today it has launched a new website for the Association's Regional Paint Horse Clubs. The purpose of this website is to supply information to APHA Regional Clubs and Association leaders with a variety of useful information and resources. The Regional Club website can be found at http://clubs.apha.com or by clicking the link from the main apha.com website.
With a full array of information and services, this website is a valuable tool for established clubs as well as forming clubs. The Club Basics tab has information on how to apply for a Regional Club charter as well as important dates and deadlines. 101 Athletes Nominated to Represent the United States at the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games | |
Lexington, KY - There are 101 different athletes (some nominated on more than one horse) from 21 different states nominated to represent the United States at the biggest equestrian event in US history. The Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games is the first opportunity to see all eight disciplines: Dressage, Endurance, Eventing, Driving, Jumping, Para-Equestrian Dressage, Reining and Vaulting in one place at the same time when these games come to the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY September 25 - October10, 2010.
With 36 days left until the Opening Ceremonies at the Games, the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) has named all its horse/rider combinations, drivers and vaulters to the Short Lists/Nominated Entries for each of the eight disciplines. From these groups the Definite Entries will be named to represent the United States. It will be these riders who will take on the world on their home turf as the World Games leaves Europe for the very first time.
