The Annual West Coast Connemara Show, dedicated in memory of Larry Ervin, was held for the second consecutive year at Twin Rivers Ranch in Paso Robles, CA. Chris Knox of Chesterfield, ID, was the USEF-licensed Connemara Breed and Performance judge. Forty-six Connemara ponies along with some 'open' horses vied for ribbons in the three-day show of 80 classes, leading up to the presentation of six division championships and 13 perpetual trophies. Traditionally hot summer daytime temperatures were bearable, and the evenings were quite cool and refreshing for ponies, horses, and riders.

National Show Horse Registry Opens Registry, Offers New Stimulus Program
The National Show Horse Registry (NSHR) made some major changes that could make a difference in how much money you have in your pocket. It not only opened the registry to any and all Half-Arabian crosses, incluing Hackneys, Dutch Harness, and Saddlebred crosses, etc., but it also implemented a stimulus program that will give away over $15,000 in prize money in eight different grand championships at the national show in September. You don't even have to qualify, with the exception of equitation and United Professional Horsemen's Association classes. And to make it even more convenient the NSHR has added recognized Arabian classes that qualify for U.S. Nationals and Region 11.
