Hart Defends USEF National Para-Equestrian Dressage Championship

Three days of competition for the USEF Para-Equestrian Dressage National Championship concluded on Sunday at the stunning Lamplight Equestrian Center which has hosted this event for each of the past three years.

"This is the largest number of riders we have ever seen," said Sandy Raferty, Chairman of the USEF Para-Equestrian High Performance Committee, "We are thrilled with the turnout."

It was a busy day in the Adequan Arena at the 2010 NRHA Derby as United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) National Youth Reining champions were crowned in very competitive fashion. 
 
Chloe Gray was happy just to be able to compete after her horse injured a suspensory ligament the day before the competition. Luckily her trainer's wife, Shannon Rafascz stepped in with a horse for her to ride and Repeat Fine Footwork delivered big time.

Pelphrey stood out from the field with impeccable grades, an incredible amount of dedication to her community and the Arabian horse community, a 12-page winning show record and unbeatable poise.

This Week in International Disciplines
In Austria at the Fritzen CDI4*, Chris Hickey and Cabana Boy finished seventh in the Prix St. Georges and eighth in the Intermediaire I. Riding in the Grand Prix for Special, Tina Konyot and Calecto V scored a 69.02% to finish fourth and were then seventh in the Grand Prix Special. In the Grand Prix for Freestyle, Catherine Haddad guided new partner Winyamaro to a fifth place finish, the pair scored a 71.55% in the Grand Prix Freestyle to take sixth.

American Morgan Horse Institute Announces Recipients of 2010 Educational Scholarships and the 2010 Youth Grant Recipient
The American Morgan Horse Institute (AMHI) is pleased to announce its 2010 educational scholarship recipients. Each award is $3,000. AMHI is proud to collaborate with the scholarship donors to assist these outstanding young women in defraying the cost of their college tuitions. This year AMHI is sponsoring more than $15,000 in scholarships and grants, including the educational scholarships, to Morgan youth nationwide. All AMHI scholarships and grants are available through the generosity of individual contributors and from the proceeds of special events.

The Dressage Foundation Receives a $1-Million Donation
"It's a very large and generous contribution," said John Boomer, retiring President and CEO of The Dressage Foundation, as he announced a $1-million gift made by Gordon Cadwgan, father of Olympian Carol Lavell. Cadwgan, who has been a longtime generous supporter of The Dressage Foundation and its work, has instructed that his $1-million gift is "to be used where needed most, and as the Foundation best sees fit to carry out its mission." he Dressage Foundation's mission is "To cultivate and provide financial support for the advancement of dressage." 
Eventing 
Forstadt Forges Victory at Her First SmartPak Equine United States Eventing Association Training Three-Day Event at the Inavale Horse Trials
Saturday morning's second phase of the SmartPak Equine United States Eventing Association (USEA) Training Three-Day competition at the Inavale Horse Trials in Philomath, OR, proved to be a challenge, as the placings shifted around quite a bit in the division sponsored by Gallops Saddlery. The overnight leader added penalties to her score in steeplechase, giving Maria Schatz an opportunity to snatch the lead, following clean trips from phase A through D, to move her up from the third position.

It is so easy when you log into your MY USEF Account and click on "2010 USEF Membership Application" under 2010 Competition Year. The annual USEF Competing Equestrian membership costs only $55.
