USEF Names Drivers for 2008 FEI World Championship for Drivers with Disabilities CPEAI****

The United States Equestrian Federation has approved the following drivers for the 2008 FEI World Championship for Drivers with Disabilities CPEAI 4*. The World Championship takes place from June 27- 29 in Greven, Germany.

Presenters Named for 2008 U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame Presented by Allstate Induction Ceremony

On Thursday, June 19, 2008, Chicago's Harris Theatre will be the site of the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame Class of 2008 Induction Ceremony. This black tie event will bring to the Windy City some of the greatest names in sports. Inductees, presenters, and VIPs will arrive on the red carpet at the Harris Theatre from 5:15 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 19 and will be available for interviews and photo opportunities as they enter the theatre. Kentucky State Fair Pleasure, Park Qualifying Period Ends June 30; Deadline Approaching for Registrations

The American Saddlebred Horse Association (ASHA), administrator for the Kentucky State Fair World’s Championship Horse Show qualifying system, announced that Monday, June 16, 2008, is the deadline for any competitions to be properly recorded in order that points accumulated at those shows may be counted for exhibitors. Any competitions held for Saddlebreds between July 1, 2007, and June 30, 2008, must be properly recorded with the ASHA per the rules available on its website at www.asha.net/WCHS-Results.

American Morgan Horse Educational Charitable Trust Announces New Internet Fundraising Opportunities

The American Morgan Horse Educational Charitable Trust (AMHECT) is excited to announce a partnership with the Internet-based charity site, “eBay Giving Works” and “MissionFish.” These programs will work in conjunction with eBay, the hugely popular Internet commerce center, to collect funds for the American AMHECT. Giving Works allows AMHECT to act as an auctioneer, posting sellable items on eBay where anyone can make a purchase. All proceeds from these sales are directly deposited to the AMHECT.

Wylde Wins Five at CSI*** Franconville

U.S. Show Jumper Peter Wylde has been doing extremely well on his European Tour. Last weekend, he was at CSI 4* Franconville in Franconville, France (June 6-8). He won five classes on three different horses. Riding Robin, owned by Windward Farm, he won three classes. Seven-year-old Unbelievable 5 won a Grand Prix and another horse Esplande 7, won the Petit Grand Prix. The previous week Wylde, riding Lipton de l’Othain, won a Grand Prix Qualifier at CSI 3* Pforzheim (May 30-June 1) in Germany.


USEF Creates Theodore O'Connor Legacy Fund

The United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) announces the establishment of the Theodore O’Connor Legacy Fund. This fund was established to commemorate 2007 Farnam®/Platform™ USEF Horse of the Year Theodore “Teddy” O’Connor. Donations will be used to fund the construction of a new cross-country obstacle for the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event in memory of Teddy. New Eventing Rule from the FEI in Place for the Olympic Games

The International Olympic Committee and the FEI Bureau have approved the proposal of the FEI Eventing Committee and Safety Sub-Committee regarding a change of rule for eventing to apply for all events as of August 1, 2008, including the Olympic Games.

FLAIR, LLC, Donates FLAIR Nasal Strips to the 2008 U.S. Eventing Team

The United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) would like to thank FLAIR, LLC, for their generous donation of FLAIR Nasal Strips for the 2008 U.S. eventing team. Clinical and university studies in equine science and sports medicine research have shown that the use of FLAIR Strips reduces airway resistance, fatigue, lung stress and bleeding in horses during physical exertion. Studies have also shown that horses wearing FLAIR Strips conserve oxygen during exercise and experience a shorter recovery time following exercise. Washington International Horse Show Extends Contract with Verizon Center

The Washington International Horse Show (WIHS), one of the world's leading equestrian events, has reached an agreement with Verizon Center in Washington, D.C., to extend its contract through 2009. "We're thrilled to be able to extend our contract with the Washington International Horse Show for another year," said Washington Sports and Entertainment Chairman Abe Pollin. "The horse show is one of our longest tenured events dating back to the Capital Centre in 1975 and being able to extend the presence of this prestigious and storied equestrian event in the nation's capital is an honor."

Katherine Newman and Almelo Continue Winning Streak at Upperville Colt and Horse Show

Last week at the Upperville Colt and Horse Show in Upperville, VA, Katherine Newman continued her winning ways with Almelo in the Paul & Eve Go As You Please Handy Hunter class. Two weeks prior, the pair scored a major win at the Devon Horse Show in the $10,000 ASG Software USHJA International Hunter Derby in Devon, PA. Seventeen-year-old Newman piloted Almelo for Mimi Abel-Smith, who shows the horse in the older amateur-owner hunters. Abel-Smith resides in Middleburg, VA.
