George Morris Leads U.S Show Jumping Team to Win First Leg of Samsung Super League at La Baule, France

Lady riders completely dominated the first leg of the 2005 Samsung Super League Nations Cup series in La Baule, France, on May 6, where the all-girl American side won through ahead of the British, while America's Schuyler Riley and Britain's Ellen Whitaker produced the two double-clear performances of the day.

George Morris and his team now head for the second leg of the Samsung Super League series in Rome later this month full of confidence and knowing that all the effort has been worthwhile.

U.S. Show Jumpers Dominated at La Baule - Winning Multiple Classes in Addition to Super League

The U.S. Show Jumping Team arrived in La Baule, France, last week, locked, loaded and ready. Not only did they handily win the first Samsung Super League Nations Cup of the season by four faults over Great Britain, but team members also won three other classes and were well placed throughout the show.

Fritz Grupe Makes Driving History at 2005 USEF National Pairs Championship

California’s Fritz Grupe made history in the discipline of driving when he won the 2005 USEF National Pairs Championship at the 2005 Garden State CDE at the Horse Park of New Jersey, in Cream Ridge, on May 8. Grupe, of Stockton, CA, became the first resident West of the Mississippi to claim the championship title.

The 2005 USEF National Para-Equestrian Championships, scheduled for June 16-18 in Gladstone, NJ, have been cancelled. Please revise your schedules accordingly. The Championships will likely be rescheduled for 2006.

Pippa Funnell Gains Her Third Badminton Title

For the third time in four years, British leading lady rider Pippa Funnell dominated the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials, leading from start to finish with Primmore’s Pride. An inspiring dressage test put them at the top of the leaderboard on day one. Whilst collecting time penalties on the cross-country, the combination jumped clear to retain the lead. In the show jumping, when it mattered most, the pair jumped another clear round to secure the Mitsubishi Motors Trophy and the £50,000 first prize.

Dressage at Devon to Host 2005 USEF National Junior Dressage Team Championship

Twelve of the nation’s most talented junior dressage riders will be invited to enter the venerable Dixon Oval at the 31st Dressage at Devon for the 2005 USEF Junior Dressage Team Championship. The late September event will be the culmination of a year-long qualifying period in which juniors, ages 14-18, ride to their best scores in international level tests. In this competition, the riders will be divided into three teams; all four members of each team will have an opportunity to stand on the podium at the end of the competition and receive a Gold, Silver or Bronze medal. Dressage at Devon opens on Tuesday, September 27 and runs through Sunday, October 2.

Rich Fellers Takes the $100,000 HBO Grand Prix of Del Mar at the 60th Del Mar National Horse Show

The 60th annual Del Mar National Horse Show came to a climax on Saturday with the $100,000 HBO Grand Prix of Del Mar. There were 27 entries, and for the second year in a row, Rich Fellers riding McGuinness took home the grand prize. Second place went to Leslie Steele and her horse AW Butterfly Hula.

This Weekend The Jersey Fresh CCI*** Becomes America’s Newest Three-Star Event

This weekend you can see the precision and grace of dressage, endurance and speed of cross-country and the power and agility of show jumping at the Jersey Fresh CCI***/CCI** Three-Day Event, May 11-15, 2005, at the Horse Park of New Jersey in Allentown. USDF Congratulates New 'L' Program Graduates

The United States Dressage Federation (USDF) has announced that 10 USDF members successfully completed the USDF "L" Education Program in March and April 2005. The USDF "L" Education Program is designed not only to prepare candidates for and fulfill the requirement to enter theUSEF "r" Judges Training Program, but also to qualify individuals to judge schooling shows; to give competitors, trainers and instructors greater insight into the evaluative techniques of judging dressage; and to serve as continuing education for licensed judges.

Highlights from the 2005 Garden State Horse Show

In the highlight event of the Garden State Horse Show, Michael Walton, 37, of Valley Forge, PA, piloted three horses in the $45,000 Dimentional Healthcare Grand Prix and finished one-two with Elu De La Hardiere and Success, respectively. The grand prix was held on Saturday, May 7. The Garden State Horse Show was held May 4-8 at the Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta, NJ.

Smart Chic Olena Reaches a New Milestone

The National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) is pleased to announce that NRHA Hall of Famer Smart Chic Olena has become an NRHA Three Million Dollar Sire. Owned by Jim Babcock, of Valley View, TX, he joins Hollywood Dun It and Topsail Whiz as the third sire to achieve this distinction.

The Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA) just launched TEAM CHA for kids 15 years old and younger. Cosequin Stuart Horse Trials & CIC** Announces Organizational Changes

The Cosequin Stuart Horse Trials & CIC**, which takes place July 21-24, 2005, in Victor, NY, has a new organizer to replace Kyra Stuart King, who has taken over the Presidency of the United States Eventing Association (USEA). Stuart was previously the organizer of the Cosequin Stuart Horse Trials & CIC** since 1990. Her role as organizer has been taken over by Louisa (Wezo) Pierson, who has been involved with the event for many years as a patron and fence sponsor.
