Ypäjä, Finland - U.S. show jumping legend George H. Morris received a Gold Badge of Merit from the Equestrian Federation of Finland (EFF) for his work with the Finnish show jumping athletes. Morris, who is the Chef d'Equipe for the U.S. Team, has globally impacted the sport of show jumping.
Tom Gardin, a representative of the Scandinavian country's Federation, awarded the Badge to Morris at the conclusion of a three-day clinic. The presentation took place in Ypäjä, a small village 80 miles northwest of Helsinki best known for horses and its equine college that hosts Finnderby, an international competition that takes place annually.

Lexington, KY - Centenary College may have traveled to the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association National Championships with a young team, but their results belied their inexperience. They dominated the event, May 5-7 at the Alltech Arena in Lexington, KY, with victory in the Collegiate Cup team competition and USEF Cacchione Cup individual championship.

Entries Open for $30,000 Added 7 & Up Derby in Oklahoma City | |
Oklahoma City - The newest trend in reining is the addition of aged classes for horses age seven and older. This year the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) is offering its own 7 & up class at the NRHA Derby, held June 27-July 2, 2011, in Oklahoma City. This new opportunity will showcase the industry's most experienced reining horses. NRHA encourages owners of competing reining horses age seven and older to enter the 7 & Up Derby, which consists of $15,000 added Open and $15,000 added Non Pro divisions.

Leipzig, Germany - Three American dressage riders traveled to Leipzig, Germany, to compete in the Reem Acra FEI World Cup Dressage Final, April 27-May 1. Jan Ebeling, Catherine Haddad-Staller and Shawna Harding all qualified to compete in the grand prix freestyle after strong performances in the grand prix presented by Sparkasse on Thursday afternoon.

The United States Equestrian Federation, Inc. (USEF), as the National Equestrian Federation of the U.S., is the regulatory body for the Olympic and World Championship sports of dressage, driving, endurance, eventing, reining, show jumping and vaulting, as well as 20 other breeds and disciplines of equestrian competition. As the country's largest multi-breed organization, the Federation recognizes more than 2,800 competitions nationwide each year. It governs all aspects of competition, including educating and licensing all judges, stewards and technical delegates who officiate at these shows.
