Jan Thompson (USA) Takes An Early Lead on Day One of the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event

One of the most-anticipated events of the year, the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, presented by Farnam, got underway at the Nation’s Horse Center – the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington – with windy and wet conditions. The less than hospitable opening day weather did not, however, keep away fans of dressage, as the stands began to fill by mid-morning to see which horse and rider combination would come away from the event with the purse of $65,000 and a Rolex timepiece.

Hoofprints from the Heart: The Power of "Yes"

There is an incredible power in the word “Yes.” And Drs. Jed Sruckus and Lisa Wojan of Litchfield, CT, know this firsthand. For it was when they chose to say “Yes” to taking into their farm and hearts a group of Exmoor ponies that were headed for potential slaughter that they learned the true meaning of community, making a difference and setting an example of what it truly means to look at “the bigger picture.” In giving of themselves, their talents and their hearts, they have received so much in return.

There were many times during the 2005 FEI World Cup Finals when one had to take a reality check and pinch oneself just to be certain one wasn't at the NBA play-offs instead of an equestrian event. Anyone who loves sport, whether they have ever been interested in horses or not, would have enjoyed the pure entertainment value of last week’s competition in Las Vegas. It was like no other international equestrian event ever held, and the Entertainment Capital of the World opened everyone’s eyes to the future entertainment possibilities horse sport can offer the public.
