Tampa, FL - Kent Farrington piloted the gray Warmblood Uceko to two clear rounds to win Saturday's $200,000 Gene Mische American Invitational presented by G & C Farm, in Tampa, FL. This was the 39th year for the Invitational, which was held at Tampa's famed Raymond James Stadium. It is the first that was held after the death of Gene Mische last year. Mische, the founder of Stadium Jumping, Inc., was the creator of the Invitational.

It comes as no surprise that the entry list for this year's Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, presented by Bridgestone, boasts the names of many of the best horses and riders from around the world. A field of entries containing Olympic veterans, past Rolex Kentucky Champions and World Equestrian Games (WEG) veterans will converge on the Kentucky Horse Park.

Burbank, CA - In sunny California, the competition for a coveted spot on the U.S. and Canadian Pan American Games teams heated up during the Festival of the Horse CDI-W/Y/J, held March 31-April 3, 2011, at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center in Burbank. Despite a large and talented group of international competitors, there was no stopping Steffen Peters with what the judges deemed his new "super horse", Weltino's Magic.

Lexington, KY - Two American Saddlebreds, All The Money (affectionately known as Cash) and Far Field Hustle Time, continue to beat out their Arabian competitors in 25-mile Limited Distance (LD) competitions. Most recently, at the Bar H/True Grit ride in Perris, CA, Cash took first place, with Hustle Time taking second. The ride was 25 miles and both horses came in approximately 10 minutes ahead of the third-place finisher. Both horses have been competing in LD for the past year and nearly always come in the top 10; both have come in first, and Cash has two "Best Condition" honors under his saddle. More than 100 riders will compete April 30 and May 1 as part of a 4-member team or as individuals in each of the IDA's four divisions: introductory, lower training, upper training and first level.

The ability to flex, extend and rotate the joints in the horse's legs and spine sets the parameters for that athlete's ability. Many things contribute to joint problems such as nutritional imbalances, trauma (acute or chronic), genetic pre-disposition, confirmation, poor shoeing/trimming, metabolic disorders, normal "wear and tear" and infections. A simple sprained fetlock as a yearling that isn't treated appropriately can start the cartilage deterioration that will progress into arthritis and cause lameness a few years later.

Paso Fino Breed Showcased at the Kentucky Horse Park | |
Lexington, KY - The Paso Fino breed will again be represented in the Parade of Breeds at the Kentucky Horse Park. Owners Will and Carol White of Will Farm LLC, in Smithfield, KY, have loaned their black five-year-old gelding, Echo C W. Echo is at the Horse Park and will be there through October. The Parade of Breeds is a half-hour demonstration that takes place twice daily throughout the tourist season. It showcases 24 distinct equine breeds in a colorful, informative and exciting presentation in which rider and horse are dressed in traditional garb and tack, paying homage to each breed's rich history.

Burbank, CA - This week, at the final CDI-W in the United States, Jan Ebeling secured his trip to the 2011 Reem Acra World Cup Final with Rafalca. The pair won the Grand Prix at the Festival of the Horse CDI-W in Burbank, CA, on a score of 69.298%. Guenter Seidel and U II were second with 65.830% and Shannon Peters rounded out the top three with Odyssey on a score of 65.766%. Ebeling kept the winning going, scoring again in the Grand Prix Freestyle. He was the only rider to receive marks above 70 from all five judges, making his final score 73.025% with Rafalca. Kathleen Raine was second on Breanna and Alisa Wilson and Weltclassiker was third. In the Grand Prix Special, Shannon Peters found her way to the top of the leaderboard. She rode Odyssey to a score of 64.208%, beating Seidel and U II and Barbi Breen-Gurley on Octango.
