Burbank, CA - California's Jan Ebeling and Rafalca displayed not only their difficult grand prix freestyle routine during the final day of the Festival of the Horse CDI-W/Y/J, but also their readiness for the Reem Acra/FEI World Cup Dressage Final in Leipzig later this month. Earning a solid 73.025% and a ticket to the World Cup as one of two North American League representatives, Ebeling and the 14-year-old Oldenburg mare seemed very confident.
Debuting their Intermediaire I freestyle, Steffen Peters completed his sweep of the small tour with Jen Hlavacek's Weltino's Magic by scoring a huge score of 79.417%. "The first word that comes to mind is 'fun'," said Peters. "I rode the freestyle a bit conservatively today since it was the first time, but he was right on."

2008 Farnam/Platform USEF Horse of the Year Retired at Live Oak International |
| |
Jamaica (left wheel) is Honored at Live Oak.
Picsofyou. |
Ocala, FL- Chester Weber's classy veteran Dutch Warmblood, Jamaica, was honored in a retirement ceremony on Sunday at the Live Oak International CAI. Now 20, the flashy bay gelding made a prolific rise to the world stage and was part of Weber's Silver medal-winning four-in-hand team from the 2008 FEI World Four-in-Hand-Championships. Jamaica initially was bought to be a tourist carriage horse, rescued on his way to the slaughter house. He made it clear right away that the patience required for this job wasn't for him. It was this tenacity and strength of character that made him the star of Weber's string. He was honored by the entire equestrian community for his achievements in 2008 when he was named the Farnam/Platform USEF Horse of the Year.
